Strawberry Shortcake

Not the lovable children's character I'm afraid though in turn my girls now adore her like I did when I was little. No, I thought I would share with you one of my all time top five favourite summer puddings which we have been making most evenings this week due to having such an enormous quantity of strawberries this year - Strawberry Shortcake.

Now this is a pudding that could probably hit the top spot for me if it wasn't for the fact that homemade strawberry ice cream just pips it to the post for us as a family.

The recipe I use is the wonderful Nigella Lawson's who is the goddess of cooking for me. So for the weekend I thought I would leave you with this link to her website and the recipe for her Strawberry Shortcake.

Enjoy, have a good one and please let it rain during the night 'only!!'. Also, to all my friends heading off to Glastonbury this weekend, which I am not jealous about, at all!!! - please remember to take your wellies and rain macs!!

ps. fingers crossed for the other friends heading to Hyde Park today - I'm hoping it's not going to be torrential - rain that is!

Nina, this looks so delicious. Libby is sitting here on my lap and she says your 'strawberries on buns' is what she wants for breakfast this morning! She asked if you can get on an airplane and send it to us!!!

Looks delicious!! And I'm beginning to think the sun always shines where you live - you always have beautiful lighting. xo

Thanks for your comment. I'm wondering if I try 're-cooking' it tonight with more fruit whether that would help?

Or I suppose we could just eat lots of icecream and 'sauce'

Yum!
I always loved a Festival in the Summer... but then I was a child of the 80's, warehouse parties and outdoor all-nighters. Good times. I'm still gutted that we left the Isle Of Wight before they started up their festival again!
Have a great weekend,x

What a perfect summer picture. The strawberries are so much nicer this year - the last 2 years were a bit (actually a lot) of a wash out!! I'm loving the warm summer evenings. I'm in my garden until very very late enjoying stillness and the scents. A plate of straberry shortcake would go well with my glass of elderflower champers!!

Nina, your strawberry shortcake looks delicious and home-made ice-cream too! As well as sending some on an aeroplane to Cathleen can you please send some to Suffolk!! Seriously though, I will try the recipe but I already know it won't look this good!

Oh, I also love Tabi's hat.

Enjoy your weekend.
