Sickness

The weekend 'eh' - where to begin?? Well I guess the best place is the whole reason why we found ourselves stuck in the house for the best part of the weekend - sickness!! (damn and blast!).

I can't believe the children have been back at school for only two weeks and already we are picking up bugs and germs 'yuk!' Well you could say a week really as my head cold started last Monday, but who's counting - not I!! Well not much.

This weekend gone has seen at least four out of the five of us ill. Mainly with coughs, colds, snots, sneezes and high temperatures and for one poor little soul the sickness bug! The fifth member escaped to a mates house for a sleepover and a day at Legoland - a very wise move on his behalf! Though saying that since he had his tonsils taken out at the tender age of four, he rarely gets ill - ever!

When I wasn't curled up on the sofa under a mass of blankets with tissues strewn all around me trying to master a ripple I was holding (please look away now if you have a very weak stomach!!) a poor little feeling very sorry for herself girls hair back and trying to gentle reassure her as she threw up on the hour every hour into her little blue bucket. Gross I know, but that's my job!

Anyhowwwwww, back to the ripple as I know your all dying to hear how it went!! Welllllll it's not as easy as it looks, is it?? Well not for me anyhow, but then I guess the fluffy boot fair bargain wool probably didn't help my efforts at all!! So until my very teeny weeny (being a very good description at the moment!) purse can afford some 'proper' wool I've put that little project on hold for the moment.

Probably a good job as I've only got a few weeks left, well four'ish' to be precise though I know an 'ish' doesn't really count in the whole matter of being precise, but anyhoo, sorry my brain is still a bit muddled from all that snot!! I really need to try and conjure up some homemade gifts for a very special second birthday - more on that later in the week.

All being well now and we are thankfully - I'm hoping that's it, our stint of illness done!! For 'oh' I don't know, the whole of the winter!! Yeah right, who am I kidding. Though I bet you (please no actually betting!) we will all have some kind of nasty lurgy in another couple of weeks. For some reason germs and bugs just love us!!

Have a super, duper Tuesday and 'thank you, thank you, thank you' for all your warm wishes - they definitely helped speed up our recoveries. xox

ps. the crochet blanket was my charity shop £2 find - not my handy work I'm afraid! If only I could crochet that well, hey, ho maybe one day.

Thank the lord for Vapour Rub! I couldn't live without it with my sinus's. I'm sending extra cuddles for your pukey child - I hate it when kids are sick. xxxxxx

I remember those days well Nina…if there were any bugs looking for a home my boys would bring them home with them. They did getter better as they got older!!!
It looks like you are going to have to take it easy for the rest of the week! ;0)

The college course was so hard…I’ve been told it will get easier!

Have a lovely day…love Lou xxx

Oh dear - what a miserable weekend! It does get a bit better as they get older and their immune systems improve. And all the while you can find lovely blankets at that price - well, it doesn't matter if you can't crochet! xx

Oh what a horrid weekend you had. Do so hope things are on the mend now and that as you said that will be your lot for a bit! I am not surprised you didn't get on too well with the crochet if you were feeling so ugh. Give it another go when you are all feeling better. And if you can buy such pretty blankets for £2 why worry?

Get well soon all of you.

I hope the little ones are getting over their nasty bugs and germs Nina - not a nice weekend for you all, especially being confined to barracks, so to speak!

Take care of you too!

Oh the tabiboo family really do suffer...I think you're going to have to start filling them up with stodgy winter puddings and custard..the perfect medicine for colds and flu!!
I bought a crochet hook today and have downloaded a tutorial..I want to make hats for Christmas..wish me luck!
I've got lots of photos to post on my blog..must get around to doing that, but guess what..colds and bugs in this house (tummy bug for me, yuck!) mean that I've been out of action too!!!
Still, thank goodness I have your little blog to cheer me up every day ♥

oh the cough and cold season, what misery. it's struck here too, one child off school again, the other one probably shouldn't have gone....... hope you are all fully recovered soon xxx I'll send you an email with a link to a wool website that periwinkle recommended, discounted wool and cottons, lovely for crochet - and easier on the purse.

That's a shame.....I'd like to say that would it for the rest of the year - but you know what children are like!! I have a phobia of sick - not great with 2 children is it?!
Get better soon.....

yukky... i do hope that you are all enjoying a better start to this week - there is a lot to be said for removing tonsils - my sweet sister has always had awful problems with hers, but the doctors would not have them removed... she is almost 30 now and catches every cold/flu bug that is drifting around :(
sending you happy healing thoughts

Glad you're all up on yout feet again. We had our first cold -little one- two weeks ago; almost just as school had started.

What a bummer. But, at least they got it out of their system early in the school year. I must admit if I could stay home with that fun box of crayons and pencil, I might pick that option.

Glad to hear all are on the mends. Remember, chicken noodle soup. Also, here in cold country, we gargle red cider vinegar. Yuck tasting, but it works.

Sickness!!! bah humbug:((( nasty word, especially as mums aren't allowed to actually be properly ill anyhow, as they are always having to nurse the rest of the family!
Keep your strength up! and the ripple-ing!!!

Oh the lurgy is definitely hitting blogland! Seems very early and very unfair if you ask me!

Love that £2 blanket - what beautiful soft colours; perfect for a bit of snuggling under. Hope you all stay well for a long while.

Oh, sickness season...blech! Last year, our family of five was ill for a total of 72 days in four and a half months--no amount of vitamins could keep the germs at bay! And I was counting:)!

Hope all is well now...and your handiwork is lovely:)

Glad you're all on the mend Nina, I do sympathise as we all had colds at the same time too when the kids first went back to school. i just love the smell of Olbas oil, even though I only ever smell it when I'm ill!
wishing you a happy and bug-free week, hope you find time to do something really good and fun for yourself, me thinks you deserve it.
