Morning all - how's it going??
Did you have a wonderful weekend jam packed with adventures and 'non stop' stuff or did you just lock the front door Friday night, pull the phone out of it's socket and cozy up with blankets, books, wine, good food and a fire??
I know which one I'd choose, but children tend to bounce off walls if they are caged in for too long so we did get out for an adventure or two, but I'll share those experiences with you tomorrow.
Now back to the cosying part.
Us adults at Tabiboo tend to squeeze our cosying into certain sections of the day - sounds regimented I know, but it makes for an all round wonderful weekend that we all get some enjoyment out of.
So for us it's either really early in the morning (sleep deprivation not included) when the little ones are still tucked up in bed with their heads in the land of nod or when they are absolutely shattered from a good old running around on the beach and then collapse, curled up on the sofa in their own little worlds of Barbie, Peppa Pig and Star Wars. This is the time when the grown ups get to indulge in their own relaxation and interests.
Whether it be reading the weekend papers or cracking on with some Christmas crafting a little slice of cosying is achievable at some point in a weekend.
And as December is literally round the corner (just one more day to go - yippee!!) the excitement levels are going to go up a notch or two (and that's just me!) and time for relaxing and cosying will become few and far between from here on in until Christmas day when we can all breath a great big fat whopping sigh!!
... and ppssssst here's a little sneak preview of the advent calender I bought this year for the children.
One kind of traditional and one with pockets that 'yes' gets filled with a little chocolate treat for all three.
Though that one is not coming out until tomorrow, just to make sure there is 'no' temptation around - for me of course!! Mmmmmmmmm chocolate.
It all adds to the fun and festivities at Tabiboo HQ.
Have a lovely, lovely week - how did you spend your weekend??

Sounds like a cosy weekend. The advent calender is very much in my taste, maybe I should get one for me as well, sweet childhood memories!
A lot of just cosying around in these parts all weekend! Have a lovely week!

One of the hardest things to teach a novice child is the art of "Advent Calendery" - especially if sweets are involved!! Yours looks really beautiful. xxx
Such a lovely post as usual Nina. Kind of reflects our weekend too with the cosy, kids and craftyness.
Hydrangeas look fabulous by the way.
Now I'm off to my first interview for 11 yrs. Aaargghh - time to be grown up and actually know (or appear more likely) what I'm talking about.
We have excitement bubbling here over the advent calendars. Paper, wooden and first time a Santa playmobil one (I wanted it more than them as I love playmobil).
Have a great day.

Crikey dick...i love hydrangeas!
this weekend I've been mostly spraying old branches blue and wrapping orange chocolate balls in teeny cellophane bags to hang from the blue branches...
can't keep an old rocker down! x
hi nina,
glad you had a lovely weekend and managed to fill it with a little cozying....
we had a lovely day yesterday with a visit to my mum's, a hearty sunday meal and an evening playing cluedo with the girls.
wishing you a lovely week,
ginny x
p.s. your hydrandgeas are beautiful.
I'm intrigued by your comment about little ones still in the land of nod first thing in the morning - never experienced that one!! A very lazy weekend was had by all here but lovely all the same. x
ooo you've reminded me that I should get an advert calendar! I'm loving the embroidery and I have a question - how do you sew the buttons onto the yo-yos?
This weekend was so wet...I should have stayed in more really rather than trying to brave it...now I have a lot of soggy shoes! xxx
Lovely hydrangeas Nina. I've got a few vases filled with flowers this week - not from the garden unfortunately, but still beautiful.
I spent Sunday doing some crafting which was lovely.
The advent calender looks lovely.
Hmm wondering if I can make one in a day? Could do a different take on Jus's fabulous original idea?!
I love hydrangeas. Sounds like you had a nice weekend. Mine was work, work, and a bit more work inbetween football matches with the eldest and making mince pies - the best bit!

beautiful hydrangeas! i couldn't agree with you more about when relaxation and crafting happen around here.
nina, you are a beautiful embroiderer. i am a beginner and have a couple questions. 1) how do i back a hoop if i want to "frame" it in the hoop rather than a picture frame? (i read a nice tutorial on how to frame in a picture frame.) and 2) are there any good, basic instructional books (with photos) for learning embroidery?
i see yours and others and am embarassed to give mine as a gift, but i am going to. (to my mom, who embroiders, no less. uh oh.)
if you are able to answer, would you email me so my mom doesn't see your reply on my blog?
italy_nicola@yahoo.com (i have also subscribed so i can see other comments on your post here, if that is easier!)
thanks!

Much the same here too Nina and I have just had the best day crafting pressies for Christmas...hurrah! So excited now I am ready to burst! x
I actually finished my advent calendar - and the pockets are full as well, now, although mainly with chocolate! I rather like the look of your embroidery - and you have obviously been busy on the yoyo/puff front. I am still ploughing through knitting a shawl, which I think is just going to be a scarf, really! I am just pondering whose bed to block it on!

Love the polka dot bowl (and its creative contents!) Happy nearly Christmas!!! Kate xxx
I want to see what the embroidery is please!!
I spent the weekend in Manchester, doing some Christmas shopping (for me and for other people!), wandering around the Christmas markets and catching up with old friends. And getting very very wet.
Cosiness is what weekends are made for especially horribly wet weekends!
I unfortunately had to work until 8pm!!! on Saturday then got soaked on the way to the station! and all trains my way were cancelled when I got there!!!!! Very cosy (NOT!)
Nina I'm in love with your hydrangea. Shall I send it a valentine?
What a lovely advent calender, very inspirational drawings! Sounds like you'll had a wonderful weekend. And yes it's almost december. I can't hardly believe, the year is going by so fast!
I love that your embroidery floss is as tangled as mine! We had a a bit of both this weekend, a trip down town riding on the subway on Saturday which was very exciting. Followed by a more subdued Sunday in front of the fire snuggling. A perfect balance!
