Produce

Don't you just love this time of the year?? The smell of Autumn in the air, more manageable cooler days and that urge to harvest, store and fill the rafters of the larder for the coming winter months - 'mmmmmmm' for me that is one of the most delicious, overpowering and deep rooted feelings buried inside me.

With all that in mind we are very slowly started to reap the rewards of Mr T's hard work this year in both the garden and allotment. Not a bumper crop, but not bad for our first year - at the allotment anyhow that is as we have always grown something in our garden.

And the colours that this produce delivers are so vibrant and warming it's like looking at Autumn unfold right before your eyes - for me that is anyhow. From mellow yellows and warming rusts and oranges...

...to red 'Hot' chillies and tomatoes and comforting browns.

These are all my favourite colours and then some.

And all with soups and pickles, jams, jellies and chutneys in mind for the larder to give us comfort and sustenance through the hibernating months.

Welcome to the week and have a wonderful bank holiday Monday. xox

Winding

I feel like everything is winding at the moment. Either winding down for Summer 'or' winding up for school and new beginnings. With one last week left of the holidays I'm starting to feel a little bit panicked that I haven't done as much as I could of with the children so lets get out there and enjoy what we can while we can while there is still time left - savour every moment.

So with this in mind that is exactly what we are going to do. Come rain or shine, sunrise or sunset we are going to get out there and enjoy the most we can what ever comes our way as lets face it Autumn is practically knocking at our doors (can you smell it too??) and when it does all I will want to do is curl myself up like a little dormouse and hide away for the winter.

Have a lovely, lovely day what ever adventures you get up to and a super weekend. xox

Little Birds Fly

I was extremely lucky to win a 'Give Away' last week - my first ever one and what a win it was. Can you see the smile on my face??

I was very fortunate to win a gorgeous, beautiful and wonderful dress for Tabi from a 'very' lovely and talented lady Jennifer at 'Little Birds Fly' honestly if you haven't come across her already then you 'must!'

She makes the most wonderful children's clothes that are not only unique, but a simply must have.

And as you can see Tabi spent most of yesterday modelling for me with lots and 'lots' of 'ooooo's' and 'aaaahhhhh's' from some of my green eyed friends - 'ooohhhhh yes' let me tell you there was a little bit (well a lot really) of jealously going on around here yesterday.

The only problem I had was (a) trying to keep a toddler still to take a picture in focus (I did take a gazillion photos!!) and (b) trying to keep her clean for more than two minutes. We did manage some how though 'and' she kept it on 'all' day - 'yep' no change of outfit here.

Have a beautiful day - I'm suffering with sleep deprivation again today from a teething toddler being up two nights 'all night' on the trot now, so many apologies if I have been a little vague and unresponsive this week - 'oh' the joys.

ps. I forgot to say I won the 'Give Away' through this lovely blog - told you I wasn't with it today, sorry.

Evening Walk

After a day of being cooped up in the house (intermittent showers - boring!!) we decided to risk the rain and go for an evening stroll yesterday - down to the seafront, our local and main beach, Viking Bay.

With the sun setting on the horizon and that last push to try and wear the children out just a little bit more before bed time with a run around (does anyone remember Runaround with Mike Reid?) on the nearly empty beach sounded like a 'very' good idea indeed 'and' if I don't say so myself - it was. Well apart from the fact none of them were 'that' tired to have a lie in this morning!!

With just the odd family milling around having a beach BBQ (we 'must' do that soon) or game of volley ball and loads and loads of seagulls scavenging the left overs from the beach goers day...

...it was certainly good to blow the cobwebs away - a beautiful evening and a beautiful walk.

Happy mid week and have a lovely 'lovely day! xox

A Makey Parcel

I brought a little something the other week, mail order - as you do!!

Another Clothkits parcel arrived in the post with a selection of goodies. I swear I am addicted - so much for not buying anything at the moment (ahem) I did get my fingers smacked for it, but 'Oh' it was well worth the trade. Plus a huge promise to lay off the buying of things for 'a little' while - honest guv!

I couldn't resist though when I saw this (amongst a couple of other things - sorry guv!) lovely little 'make your own' Pocket Dolls kit and on offer too. A bargain - even I couldn't resist.

An original vintage pattern first printed in the UK in 1978! Well if I couldn't have one when I was six then why not now? I have this weird way of reasoning things out in my mind - it's always good to have a plan, don't you think?

Apart from the 'I want one now' urge, one of the main things that attracted my eye was the pattern and then the colours which are so vibrant, but not too in your face - does that makes sense?

Anyhow, with fingers smacked 'I am soooo naughty' - yeah right! I have a new parcel to get started on very soon - I will refrain from starting anything else until the bag 'is' finished and it nearly is 'ooohhhh' the suspense!! Plus I have a mountain of new school clothes with labels that need sewing in which really 'should' be a priority now - only a couple of weeks to go.

Happy Tuesday - have a good one. xox
