One

Oh my word I can't believe it (in the words of the great and utterly brilliant Kaiser Chiefs) I'm one already, can you believe it?? - that last bit isn't in the song, by the way.

I can't!.....Believe that is!!....A whole year of blogging!!!................Awesome!!!!

If I actually sit back and let that little thought, just the tiniest little flicker of a flashback into my head - well it just blows me away.

'She's mad, she's mad!!' I can hear you all saying and I know, but when I'm lost for words then normally a whole jumble tumbles out in it's place.

Do you know I have posted two hundred and ninety nine posts in this past year?? This will be my three hundredth - now that is something to celebrate alone.

Gawd knows how many pictures I've taken though, but by the way my computer whirls and chugs with such effort I'm guessing - a few! ahem.

{I had to pinch the smartie out of the top of this cake for the candle, but it was well worth the sacrifice - yum, yum!!}

So my first birthday 'wow' - how cool is that?? Did you know that with hand on heart and being totally honest I had never heard of blogging or Flickr before October 'ish' 2008? Again I know - a very sheltered life!

It was by pure chance - or fate some may say (that would be me) I just happened to stumble across a book in the library and like I do (it's a me thing) being nosey I flicked to the back of the book to see what the author looked like and discovered I could read more if I typed in a link. And being doubly nosey - I did!!

That's where I discovered a blog - my first blogging experience, the first blog I ever followed and read - and still do, such inspiration.

And from there on in it just, well kind of took off really. From one I found another then more until I began to think 'I could do that'..........but (there's that but!!) not knowing where to start and having very little computer knowledge - apart from how to shop that is!!

So I sat on the sidelines for a good couple of months just reading and discovering new people, new worlds, different takes on life and others just as passionate in the things that I am - I had found a like minded community.

And 'oh' how glad I am to have stumbled.

The rest as they say is history - pretty much.

I wonder how many of cups of these I have drunk as I sat at the computer over my first year!?

This past year (personally) has seen some good times and bad times, job losses and new adventures, I've lost far too many loved ones but made loads of lovely new friends and above all (in blogging) it has been an amazing, fabulous and utterly brilliant year and I wouldn't change it for a jot because..........

.........of you guys!!

Thank you sooooooooooo much for sharing this past year and adventure with me, you guys are the best!! And for that I would like to raise a glass ::

'To You Guys - chin, chin and bottoms up!'

I hope you like the cakes - there's plenty to go around and for those of you who are not keen on cupcakes or fairy cakes, as I've always known them...........I've made some more caramel slices after my little piggy fest on Wednesday.

Now I've been playing around with mosaic maker recently, as you do and thought maybe I could do a little collection of my past year in pictures, but..........I did that on New Year's Eve (not in mosaic though) - hope that makes sense??

Sooooooooooooo what I thought I would do is make a mosaic of the little give away I'd like to do, just to say 'Thank you' for all your wonderful support, continued following, commenting and friendships and much, much more - though there can only be one winner, sorry.

A little give away which will comprise of :: some of the vintage things I've collected over the past year, some very pretty ribbon and a couple of Suffolk puff brooches I've made and.....

.....a 1978 BBC 'Discovering Patchwork' booklet

This book is where I found my love for hexagon pincushions!!

Now there will be 'NO' rules or reg's no linking or mentioning - though you can if you like!

Just leave me a comment and maybe for a little bit of fun an answer to the following maybe?? If you could change the name of your blog or if you wanted to set one up, what would you call it??

Though you don't have to as my brain always seizes up when I'm posed with a question, but a definite 'Hi' would be good and maybe how you found me? - oh and your email address, just in case............fingers crossed xxxxxxxxxxxx.

I've always felt I could of been a little bit more creative with my blog name and with foresight maybe I should of named it 'The mutterings of a stressed out house wife' or something like that, but Tabiboo it is and Tabiboo it will stay.

I'll leave the give away open for a week so that's next Friday the 5th Feb and I'll post the winner on Saturday 6th.

Thank you all again for this utterly delicious past year - here's to many, many more (I hope) and if you'd raise your glasses please (or cake) and make a toast to us all - the very best of wishes for this next 'blogging' year.

As always, have a wonderful, wonderful weekend, take care and have F.U.N.

xXx

Happy anniversary! It is amazing how fast the time flies by in Blogland isn't it and how many lovely people one meets along the way. I came to you via sidebars having stumbled upon Lucy's blog over at Attic 24 when searching the web for a pattern for crochet flowers!

Not sure what I'd call my blog if I changed it but I think Marigold Jam is a bit strange and not sure where that came from and I'd prefer something else but it's too late now!

Enjoy your anniversary and thanks for inviting me to partake of the delicious cakes (I too would call them fairy cakes as to me cupcakes are something from a Mr Kipling packet with thick icing on top and not these delicious dainties!)and cup of tea. Enjoy!

Happy Happy Birthday to you.

Wonder which blog you found first and inspired you so. Nosey old me.

I've toyed with the idea of another blog which would show the cheeky and saucy side of my humour. I have a name for it too, but that's secret in case I do ever get to do it. I don't think it will happen though as doing one seems enough for now.

Have a great weekend Nina.

i would love to change the name of my blog as i am sick, sick, sick of blooming cupcakes - they are everywhere - when i opened my real bricks and mortar shop and called it cupcakes it was before the whole craze took off... i was different, unique... now i am plain old common and ordinary!!!
not sure what i would change it too - i will get back to you on that one :)

here's to another year of you and your fabby pictures and tales....

Hello Nina,

I am full of admiration- one year of blogging-and I am still sitting on the fence 18 months after thinking about setting mine up!
My blog would be called Plain Jane, when I was born the nurse asked my Father my name and he said Jane, plain Jane-J-A-N-E, (apparently I was supposed to be a boy called John!)

Happy 1st. blog birthday to you!

Happy 1st Blogversary :)

Look forward to your 2nd year.

I found the whole blogworld via a facebook page for a local vintage market. They listed some of the sellers and I clicked on one that interested me (BoboBun) and that took me to a blog and then it sort of spiralled!

I guess I should give my blog a subtitle - Vicki's Midlife Crisis - a mummy who's about to hit 40 and is pedalling backwards & failing!!

Happy, happy birthday and super, super giveaway!

It's lovely to hear the story behind your blog, which is something we can all relate to. The thing that amazes me is that you can watch and lurk for ages, but you can have no idea of the real friendships possible until you join in.

I spent a long time with a long list thinking of a blog name. I'm still not sure that 'Troc, Broc and Recup' is such a great one. It has the advantages of those nice rhymes and of being mainly in French, which is relevant and possibly intriguing, but it's hard to understand and rather harsh sounding. I'd prefer a softer name, but as you say, we are what we are, now!

Anyway, thanks so much for the chance to win your goodies. I will follow you up with a 1 year giveaway next month, so do keep an eye open for that too!

I have so enjoyed reading your blog over the past year, yours is generally the first one I log onto in the morning. I discovered blogging by accident, and whilst doing a search for a cupcake crochet pattern I think it was? It took me a while to move on from being a lurker to an actual blogger myself. I am never really sure if I am interesting enough, but enjoy writing bits down as and when. That would be a great blog name "Am I Interesting Enough" Ha ha or lol as most would say. Anyway, here's to the next 299 posts! Dev x p.s lovely swap, keeping my fingers crossed.

its funny how quickly time flies as i remember my first blog year seemed to come round so quickly but with so many lovely blogs and hours to lose browsing them all its not really surprising :-)
im ok with my blog name but if i blogged more about all the stressful stuff in my life it should probably be renamed "WHY ME?!!!" :-)
enjoy those cakes they look yummy

A very happy Anniversary Nina! It has been lovely to share in with your adventures and enjoy your fabulous photos.

I'm happy with my blogging name - the balancing kiwi - as it seems to sum up how I often feel 'balancing' life.

I've enjoyed the cake thank you :-)

Hey Nina! Congratulations! All those entries in one year- that is AMAZING and rather prolific compared to me! That is also ALOT of photos indeed! So cool that you kept with it and discovered a whole new world/community. xxx

Greetings Nina and a very happy Birthday to you. How exciting!

I found you through Pipany and I found her through Sophie Perks Ward and I found her blog because I was looking for her shop in Shaftesbury (the reason I couldn't find it is because it's closed) .... phew!

Here's to many more lovely blogs from you and I shall raise my cup of tea, and imagine I'm eating one of your caramel slices, if there are any left!

hi Nina! Happy happy 1st blogiversary hunny!!!!
glad you've had fun doing it all....it's fab finding new friends isn't it?
Well in answer to your question I would call my blog Dizzy Doris as everyone calls me Doris!!! the dizzy bit came from when we were teaching a child braille and we made up names for each letter of the alphabet for him to remember the braille symbol...hence the letter D became dizzy doris as I was the one teaching him that day!
dizzy Doris is so far removed from Tilly Rose tho' and originally i thought I would only blog about mt craft business...but as you can gather I am a chatterbox and waffle on about everything really!
Have fun with your celebrations hun...lovely getting to know you!
Hugs Karen x x x

How wonderful - what a very important day for you indeed! I so love my visits here Nina, and although they're not as frequent as I'd like - sometimes I have to do boring stuff instead of my daily visit here I can tell you that your visits and comments at mine have helped me through this year too. What a strange but wonderful place blogland is - you haev to be in it to understand. Keep on blogging, posting, snapping, baking. Hurray!

silverpebble said...

BTW, I'm not sure I'd call my blog anything but silverpebble - it seems to suit OK. I make silver stuff, I love pebbles. Sometimes I make silver pebbles. One possibility might be 'the ramblings of a crazed crafter' but it might put people off!

as for the name question, mmm, I often wonder why I chose the one I did, I'd love to have something dramatic sounding, but it wouldn't really be me.
thanks for the "little buns" as we call them - they are delicious xxx

Happy anniversary Nina! Good grief what a prolific blogger you are too. I've been going for 2 and a half years and am nowhere near that many posts! I'm happy with my blog name, I don't think I'd change it...I like that it's personal. Besides, it would be a tall order (for me) to come up with something new, creative and original!!

And yes, yes, yes - they're fairy cakes, not cupcakes. I quite agree. And very nice they are too. Thank you very much :-)

IF I could change my blog name I suppose I'd like it to be something about working from home with a rabbit. Catchy eh?!

Humphrey thinks he should have his own blog. I say no - I just know who'll get left with all the work!!

Anyway, happy birthday again.... For she's a jolly good fellow etc etc etc...

Is it really only a year - feel like I've known you for ever!!!
I named my blog after the EP 'Surfer Rosa' from my favourite band. I thought it was apt as I spend a fair bit of time surfing the net.
I keep thinking of changing the name though - I've changed my craft/gift stall to 'Vintage Pink' as I love those two words (they make me think of yummy faded paisley eiderdowns) but I'm not sure if I want to connect my blog and business - I'd like to start another for this purpose but as I only manage one or two posts a month it might be a bit ambitious just now.
A belated happy blogiversary!
