Good morning my friends -
I hope this glorious morning finds you all well and content? - Not pulling your hair out and madly rushing around trying to find the last bits and bobs for school.I'm currently sat here at a huge beautifully scrubbed pine farmhouse table looking out across misted dew covered fields where horses are grazing and the martins are getting ready to emigrate for the Winter.
And even though there is a chill in the air the french windows are kicked open and the smell of wood smoke fills the air - we are waiting for the days rain to set in - where has our Summer gone and did it ever arrive?
The littlest Boo is sat beside me designing a multi coloured spectacular feast of a picture and we are all listening to Ella and Louis singing softly in the back ground - ironically it's 'Summertime' - one of my most treasured and favourite duets of theirs - whilst Mr T cooks bacon sandwiches.
Very far flung from how it should be at the moment - August 'pah' - don't even get me started on that subject!!
Sun filled, lazy Pimms fueled, kick back and relax.........hazy days of Summer.
Forget campfires and sitting out under the stars.
Last night we all sat huddled under an assortment of blankets and lit our first open fire and (so far) we have found three big'ish' house spiders in various sinks this morning.
Oh yes my friends - Autumn is most definitely a knocking at the door!
Now I know all of these pictures are not very autumnal - at all.
A little bit murky 'yes' (the skies that is) but most definitely not autumnal.
The reason being??
Well apart from needing a reminder of what Summer actually looks like I was looking back at some of the pictures I've taken this Summer and stumbled across these ones - a day at the beach - in fact not that very long ago at all and even though we were all wrapped up it was still a day we spent as a family, at the beach.....for the whole day.
So what do you think our chances are for an Indian Summer?? Will we have any more days like these?
I'm still living in hope, but at the moment I'm trying to adjust my body clock and face up to the fact that Summer is probably over and that I'm also probably already looking at my beloved season - Autumn.
And if that is the case then farewell Summer months - it was a brief affair, but here's to next year - you will be sorely missed.
Memories.......this Summer - on the beach.
Something to mull over - what are yours?
- Enjoy the rest of the week.

Fab pics! The crochet looks yummy! I have those rice pots too...great for stacking sarnies and taking with you places. The weather is pants, seems like we have been cheated somewhat! The grey days make me moapy! Still, school term soon and that might make me spring into action! Enjoy the rest of the hols! Vanessa xxxxxxxxx
This is rather a moving post Nina - I think you and I are both sad about summer going. I'm rather more positive than last year about autumn approaching though - I can see good, snuggly times ahead. I loved your beach pictures.
Autumn almost always arrives on the 1st September, but this year its a couple of weeks early I think. I'm wishing very hard for an Indian Summer. xxxxx
Rather poignant...
It feels like autumn is here in the south of France - still hot, but the first pumpkin plant has died back and Ben has harvested its small pumpkins and lined them up against the shed wall. I am rebelling against this!
So by my reckoning that means we should be almost Spring like down here... humph! I have 3 layers and a cardi on, a heater by my feet and a hot water bottle, brrrrr!
Spring, bring it baby... x
We have had a lovely summer (sorry) apart from the odd grey day..lots of playing outside and fake camping in the garden. I love sitting outside stargazing with a glass of rosé :-)
(did you get your little suprise prezzie yet?)
I really hope we get an Indian Summer...as these past couple of days here too have been a little chilly...I posted a Summer memory today.
HUGS...it's been busy here...sorry haven't passed by recently:-)
Great thing about blogs...I can go back and catch up on past posts!

I'm trying very hard to hang on to summer. It's not that I dislike Autumn it's just I feel it's too soon. Weather here today is actually sunny and bright so I'm keeping everything crossed for an Indian summer! :)

Like you I love Autumn, just not looking forward to having to pay for another delivery of oil and logs to keep us warm and toasty. I've been scavenging for kindling already though. It's definately on it's way as the light is different even when it's sunny.

That's what I dread about Autumn..all the spiders taking up residence in the house!!
Your pictures are beautiful..as always.I havn't given up on Summer yet..we still have our holiday to come!
Bellaboo :o)
I'm convinced that summer will reappear when they're back at school next week! which is a bit of a shame. I can, however sense Autumn is round the corner...!x
I don't think it'll be long before we light our fire. It's so wet and miserable here, such a shame for the kids, no doubt we'll have a heat wave when the kids go back to school!!!!!!!!
I've just been looking back over my blog posts and it seems summer was in May and June this year. Icelollies featured strongly in those months and wore my flip flops right the way through both months.
Summer has been an oddity for me this year, and I am just starting to wake up and get ready for a more enjoyable Autumn. I will mourn missing so much of this season, but perhaps like you I will be able to go through the pictures and find a day that was truly cherished.
