Domestic Goddess

Well not quite -

This was my attempt at Chocolate Banana Muffins from Nigella's new book 'Kitchen'

Aesthetically pleasing they didn't quite come out as beautifully looking and tempting to the eye as they do in the book, but on the whole these are very moist, very quick and very very easy to make - whipped up on the back end of dinner in between finishing and 'what's for pudding mum I'm still hungry!'

A winner with the kids and at the moment a lunchbox favourite and OK you may be thinking chocolate and cakes in a lunchbox 'that's not very healthy' but the banana content (I feel) is high which I guess gives them their moistness and the chocolate is powder so not really chocolaty at all, it's just there to turn the flour a nice dark brown colour - so I can't really complain can I.

Though maybe brown cupcake/muffin liners next time might help to conceal all my messy cake mixture spooning.

And as promised, if you haven't already heard, seen, sky plus 'ed' - her new series starts this Thursday evening 8pm on BBC 2 - I'll be there curled up with my cookbook taking notes!

Here's to guilt free cooking - and eating!

Wow, they look scrummy! I almost bought her book the other day, but it looked heavy! Sad excuse! Might go back and put it in the basket as those muffins would be a big hit with the Bears! Have a super day!

They look great, very tasty! I did notice that she has a new series. I really enjoyed watching the great British Bake off, about time they highlighted baking.

ooh yummy.
we get a lot of those what's for pudding? conversations.
apparently even if you are too full to finish your dinner you still have room for pudding because children have a seperate tummy for that xxx

I am a complete Nigella addict...her cakes are unbelievably scrummy. Eldest is now churning chocolate muffins out of the aga on a weekly basis, so chocolate home-made goodies in the those lunch boxes does pay off!!

I hadn't realised there was to be a new Nigella series - will certainly be Sky+ing it. Am just recovering from the loss of the Great British Bake Off. Miranda was robbed!

Nigella has always been an inspiration. These look so yummy, and I love your presentation (the paper makes them so much more fun!)

I'm a Nigella fan, but with one banana-phobe in the house, this recipe isn't likely to be the highest on the make list.
I am very intrigued by your muffin wrappers though. Did you make your own? Where did you get them?

Must get some of those liners. I always like how Nigella sneaks down to the fridge for leftovers, when everyone else is in bed asleep! x
