Fudge

I've had such a sweet tooth recently that the cravings to satisfy this little personality fault of mine have been so overwhelming my poor old will power has stood no chance.

So when trying to track down a recipe for peanut butter fudge that a friend of mine had made recently, I happened to stumbled across these images which got me thinking.

Why not have the best of both worlds - peanut butter fudge with a chocolaty topping? A bit like caramel shortbread, but with a peanut fudge base instead.

So I came up with this concoction ::

~ Peanut Butter Fudge with a Chocolate Ganache topping ~

Super, super sweet, but not too sickly that you can feel your teeth rotting away with every little morsel. No just the right amount of sweetness to sedate a very naughty sweet tooth - for a little while that is.

And how long do you think it lasted?? The fudge that is not my sweet tooth!

Yep that's right - a whole miserly twenty four hours!!

For you see it wasn't just me suffering with sweet tooth syndrome, nope. Apparently the boys were suffering bad too - humph!!

So next time I'm going to be very sneaky and hide my little (secret) chocolate and fudge stash.....somewhere! Because only the chosen few will get a look in.

That's right, those lovely people I'm going to make this for as Christmas presents because 'oh yes' I can see it all now, wrapped up beautifully in some pretty paper with ribbon or nestled inside a vintage biscuit tin - this is most definitely going to be a very thought out and tasty little Christmas present treat for all my friends and family.

Have a wonderful, blustery, wrapped up warm day.

xXx

info :: The recipe for peanut butter fudge is from Sophie Dahl found here and for the ganache I used ::

250g good quality dark chocolate - ie. Green and Blacks (cooking chocolate)
250ml double cream.

Melt the chocolate and mix in the cream. It sets lovely and smooth, slightly solid though not too hard that it's rock solid.

Enjoy!!

Yummm! Does the ganache store ok unrefridgerated - I'm thinking of the cream, if it doesn't all get munched immediately??

Now you're talking, my tummy is well and truly rumbling now! Tins of that will make the most perfect Christmas gifts, depending on whether you scoff the lot beforehand, that is!!

Have a 'sweet' day xox

We're fudge-aholics here too and will definately try that recipe.
I always freeze half the batch otherwise it's all gone in a day.
What a great idea with the vintage tins - scrummy, yummy pressies.

That looks delicious! It has also reminded me of a horribly guilty secret I have hiding in the freezer... at a Food Show last year I discovered a homemade lolly stall and in a frenzied fudgy spree spent $50 on the stuff. Before the lady had even finished wrapping I was starting to feel a little sick, and by the time I got home just the thought of all that fudge in my bag was making my stomach churn...
luckily, I managed to put all the unpleasant feelings behind me very quickly and spent a glorious 20 minutes chomping on some of the most delicious fudge I'd ever tasted... until I felt sick for a very different reason. So I popped the leftovers in the freezer where they have sat ever since. It might be time to delve into the depths of the icebox, what do you reckon? x

Wowsers. What have you created? It sounds like the best confection since chocolate itself. You clever woman.

mmm, looks so good. My sweet tooth has been under house arrest but you've well and truly liberated it. How am I ever going to tame it again. I guess I shall just have to make these and tempt it back into submission!
