Hulk Hands

Can you guess what we've been doing today??

Welllllllll.......what happens when you leave a two year old alone with a palette of four 'originally' dollops of paint for three minutes - tops?

She mixes them up of course, paints her hands not the paper and smiles a big cheesy grin when you realise what's happened.

At least it kept to her hands and I didn't find her face smothered or hair all stuck together or even worse the walls redecorated......! Though the table was a pretty sight afterwards - thank goodness for oilcloth.

To be honest, I couldn't help but smile, but for straight faced oh no'ness' I had to suppress my laughter.

Don't you just love the little darlings?

I certainly do, this little treasure of mine.

Sew!

Do you remember the above picture from last Monday's post of mine?? Do you, do you?

Basically I've had Cath Kidston's 'Sew!' book for ages and ages now. You know the book with the pre cut out bag for you to make.

Anyhow, it's been sat on a shelf, like I said for ages and every time I went to take a peek at it I would feel the up most of guilt because of that makey do bag all beautifully cut out, ready, to size and to be all sewn up.

So back it went onto the shelf with the odd glance in that direction every now and then. I even turned it around so the spine didn't face me for a while, but that just screamed 'I'm still here' at me.

But I am guilt free once more!! I have finally got round to making up my little bag and to be honest, it is little - very.

Anyhow, it's not perfectly sewn up - the usual Tabiboo style, uh huh!!

I couldn't get my button loop following the rouleau (?) instructions on page 25 - so I cheated.

Nor could I get 'slip the facing over the top of the bag' so..........I cheated. Though to the best of my ability I must say and some very nifty hand stitching - it hides a multitude of sins, well for me it does.

And as for two button holes on the strap, welllllllll I preferred just the one, I'm not greedy and at least I can do button holes - or should I say my lovely new (pre) birthday present can! It's called an Husqvana something or other or Husky as I've nicknamed it.

I also added a lining - just because really. A bit of class I guess (cough, cough!!) well that's my excuse and I'm sticking with it!

So now I can turn my CK Sew! book around and look at it with pride in amongst my other crafty books, to be hidden away no more and..............hopefully a few more crafty goodies will be created from it...

...maybe?

I am soooooooo bad with craft books!

Have a fab week - we've got a thunderstorm erupting around us at the moment......hope the computer does conk out on me or explode or something. Does that still happen?? Or am I the only person that turns the TV off when there is a thunderstorm?

Ten

This time ten years ago...........I always go through the same thought process every March 28th.

Well what I was actually thinking was 'oh my word' in the year Twenty Ten I will have a ten year old. The bizarre things that go through your head when your having a baby.

And here we are, that is exactly what I have - a ten year old.........today!

The Eldest Boo is ten today and the excitement that has lead up to this birthday - phew is all I can say, PHEW!

'In sixty four days it's my birthday!'

'Do you know mum, it's my birthday in twenty two days!'

'Only six more days until it's my birthday!'

'Did you know..........aaaarrrggggghhhhh!'

And as for yesterday.........well let's just say I considered climbing back into bed until today emerged, but with cakes to bake, presents to wrap and the tension mounting that was not possible - I think we hit fever pitch at about 9.30 yesterday...........morning!!

So what to do with an excited nine, almost ten year old?? Keep them busy!!

And guess what time we were up this morning?

Well 7.30am, which isn't too bad all considered, but if you take into account British Summertime started at midnight last night and the fact the clocks went forward an hour, we're talking more like 6.30am this morning - the eldest boo was up at 5.30am!! I found him bleary eyed, but very, very excited curled up on the sofa watching TV - boys!!

Anyhow, it's my eldests birthday today, my first born, my only boy, my beautiful big blue eyed, charming young man.

It was touch and go those first two weeks with an 85% chance of him not surviving, but he did and it's best not to dwell, which is why I have the same thought process every year.

Though when he thinks I'm not looking I catch a glimpse of him from the corner of my eye and the awesome reality of this wonderfully talented young man he's grown into, well it's just the most over whelming feeling any mother could have.

Frustrating shy with a stubborn streak (mothers side!) - hence the frustrating bit!! A dazzling smile that has broken countless hearts since the age of two - not that he would notice, he's so laid back you could say horizontal!!

With a wicked laugh and dastardly sense of humour, happy birthday my gorgeous boy,

'Happy Birthday my Will'

Here's to many, many more and the life that lays in front of you - for I know that what ever you choose to do you will do it with confidence, charisma and a little touch of cheek!

'With all my love'

and Twenty Twenty!!

Raindrops...

...and other stuff today - so far!

Normal service has resumed once more in the Tabiboo household and all nasty germs have been starved off and killed.

So with rain drops, drop drop dropping outside our window panes this morning little boo and I were left to our own devices.

Whilst I made (and eat) Bavarian Pumpernickel bread from the Artisan Healthy Bread in Five minutes a Day book, little boo reconnected with the house and toys she had missed for two whole sickly days.

Though I have to say even though the bread is delicious I think I got a bit carried away with our last jar of homemade strawberry jam - I just needed a taste of Summer this morning with all the greyness outside our windows today, but it would of tasted better with cheese.......maybe some soft goats cheese and chilli jam - or non chilli, chilli jam as I prefer!

Anyhow once the rain dried up (for all of five minutes!) it left some wonderful muddy puddles in our not so perfect garden.

So suited and booted little boo splish splashed and generally jumped around whilst I tried to capture raindrops hanging 'oh so' perfectly from branches, twinkly like tiny little lights and resting ever so gently and slightly precariously on leaves waiting to roll and splat with each tiny little breeze or movement.

And now the birds are out in force flitting from branch to branch knocking those delicate little raindrops to the ground as they spy the odd worm or two poking their heads out of the soggy ground - a feast indeed for hungry little blackbirds.

Enjoy the rest of your day and thank you again for all your uplifting comments - as Jus said 'at least it wasn't both ends' - you and me both Mrs Bun, you and me both!!.......you'll have to read yesterday's comment to understand.

Twenty Four Hours

Twenty four hours and all is now calmer in the Tabiboo household.

Not a bucket to be seen in sight - though those past twenty four hours............phew!!

We did have a touch and go moment though yesterday when the littlest boo was crashed out on the sofa and the phone started ringing, which woke her up and had me cursing, but it was the school 'crikey' another boo sick 'can you come and get him please!!' .....................OK, right away.

So off I pootled to the school to bring another sickly boo onto the sofa of 'sick' when the phone rang again 'oh no' not the last boo 'pleaaaaaasse'

But 'no' just a friend phoning to see how we were all doing?

At that point, not good, but this very moment in time - OK thank you. Though you know how it is, all could turn again - just one piece of toast and we could be right back at bucket stage!

Though as you can see so far so good and fresh air isn't off the menu, breath in and swallow as much as you like - it's all good and free!

The scene in our back garden this evening, now encroaching on dusk - well by the time I press the publish button it will probably be dark, I know but after twenty four hours of hanging heads in buckets they were desperate to escape outside.

A bit of back garden mining - well why not?

Think I may join them!

Thank you for all your warm wishes yesterday and today - they certainly kept me going and made me feel sane - even when my eyes started drooping from mopping brows, holding back hair and lack of sleep!

I'm hoping to catch up tonight.

Snuggled

The Littlest Boo and I have been snuggled on the sofa now since 5 am'ish' this morning - sickness has struck us again and even though she has perked up considerably in the last couple of hours I am, now feeling slightly jaded.

At least I have the opportunity to just sit with her soothing and comforting finishing off my blanket - sod the housework, washing up, making beds and all that other malarkey.

Just for today it is all going to be ignored!

Hope you have a less sickly day then mine!

xXx

ps. sorry if I haven't popped in and said 'Hi' recently - life seems to be getting in the way at the moment.

I do really and truly appreciate and love all your comments, messages, advice, remarks and questions - thank you. Nina xxx

Weekend Stuff

Apart from having my nose stuck in a book most of the weekend, I did actually manage to get up to some other stuff, because let's face it - life does go on.............even if the book in particular is very, very good.

Anyhow, on top of all that book reading - which I haven't quite finished......... yet (almost though, almost) I did manage to get down to the last round (and ball of wool) on my round and round the Summer Granny Square blanket - just that and the loose ends to sort out now, then I'm done - just as it starts to get warm, phew!

And a bottle of this found hidden at the back of the larder went down a real treat. Summer tastes - divine!

Birthday colouring on Sunday - I am never that organized!

The most striking and gorgeous colour of potted flowers now adorn the dinning table - I can never remember the name of plants.

For a country gal I am useless - I know!

And I've also been dreaming of Easter...

...chocolate cake,

colourful mixing bowls, crockery and........

long lazy days on the beach!

Whilst the smell of hyacinths and,

baking bread infused the house.

And finally.............I managed to make a start on a project I should of made ages ago - can you guess what it's to be, or should I say 'supposed to be?'

So all in all a bit of a mish mash of a weekend but very productive nonetheless - a little homely, but very much enjoyed by one and all.

Have a super start to the week and officially (yes sirree) the start of Spring!

Glass Feet

The 'how?'

The 'what the.....?'

The possibility?

I am...............completely and utterly hooked!

I'm half way through and I think my nose will be, well and truly firmly wedged inside this book for the rest of the week!

'Do Not Disturb!!'
