Black and Gold

...with a little bit of green added for decoration, but that will be for show later.

Just another little makey thing I've decided to jump right on in to whilst I wait for my new dressmaking books to arrive from Japan.

A little something for the Summer though if I'm honest.......I'm not too sure about the colour or the fabric, but hey ho let's give it a go. It can always be my mock up.

Though until I've actually finished it I guess I'll just have to wait before I pass a full judgement.

And from the pictures I've taken I'm sure it's not too difficult to guess what I'm making and where I'm making it from.

Let's just say another 'Sew Liberated' pattern and 'oh' how I do love these patterns.

Just another thing I guess to keep me busy this bank holiday weekend - ahem!

And as I feel like I'm saying this a lot these days ::

I'll keep you posted...............literally!!

Fabric Scrumptious

With all that has been going on around here recently in the Tabiboo household I completely forgot to show you the fabric I hinted at buying for some new makey clothes I have in mind.

After getting carried away with the Sew Liberated 'School House Tunic' I made back at the beginning of the month and with my growing sewing/dressmaking skills I've kind of become completely (and utterly) crazed and probably a little too heady (ahem!) with all the new things I want to or should I say 'would like to' make for my fresh new wardrobe look.

Also is it just me or do you find it really hard as well finding anything that suits or is to your taste without dressing like a mass produced clone? Plus being on the short side doesn't help either!! I've become pretty good at taking things up and in.

But as usual things haven't quite gone to plan.

In all honesty I did have to wait a wee while for the fabric to be delivered and I kind of became a bit lost in the interim, but with said fabric now in my possession the only thing left to do is 'SEW!!'

Well that is when my new book arrives from Japan!!

I know, I know another new Mrs Boo venture, but 'OMG!' how gorgeous and creative and just me, me, me are all the lovely designs, fabric and patterns coming out of Japan?

Anyhow, I'll fill you in when it's delivered for I have been planning 'oh yes' a little creative ticking has been going on in my mind.......and I do like being a little sneaky - sometimes!

Anyway, the fabric patterns I bought are Amy Butlers Midwest Modern 'Blossom' and another variation on the Daisy Chain plus........two patterns by Denyse Schmidt who I have only just recently stumbled across and 'oh my word' how much do I love these vintage patterns? Let's just say - a lot!!

Well best go and as they say......until next time my friends, until next time.

Have a smashing day

An acquired taste

Shallow fried dandelion flower heads - 'uh huh!'

For something that feels 'oh so' wrong in soooooo many different ways, actually tastes 'oh so' right and very, very yummy (I must say) in a whole new experience kind of way.

These were picked from the allotment so no chance of them being peed on by dogs. Though I did make Mr T try the first one in fear that I would be poisoned.

And with childhood thoughts running through my head of bed wetting and 'you must never pick (yes mum) dandelions' I did tentatively take the tiniest of nibbles at first.

But 'oh my word' how yummy are these?

You'll have to take my word for it if you've never tried and of course if you're not too worried about fried food and cholesterol that is.

And by my second flower head I was scoffing a whole bowl full with the best of them - with no bed wetting tales to tell of - must be a gardeners fable.

I hope you're enjoying your sun shine weekend?

We had sea mist here yesterday (when warm air meets cold) and have avoided the beach today opting to go down maybe this evening as is absolutely heaving down there at the moment.....plus the garden is much, much warmer and convenient.....with ice cold fizz on tap!

Have a good one

xXx

Edited :: the taste is hard to describe. I thought they were quite sweet with a wilted spinach kind of after taste. We found a basic batter mix, anyone will do but you could make a beer one or even sweet one to enhance the natural sweetness. We thought a tempura (Japanese) batter would be a good one to try as well.

We saw the idea from Alys Fowlers '
The Edible Garden' (my new domestic goddess!) and were intrigued to see what they tasted like.....though the recipe is not in her book. Hope that all helps? N xx

Searching

...for Ladybirds.

Tickly work, but all in a mornings fun.

It's the most simplest of things that can bring a squeal of giggles, mass of questions and much, much wonder - and that's just me!

I do love spending time with this growing 'way too fast' little toddler of mine.

Have a wonderful sun filled weekend - The Tabiboo's

...continued

From sandy feet, hands, tiny toes, boats, sandcastles and more sandy feet - I really can't get enough of those scrummy little feet.....can you tell?

These are the 'other' pictures I took at the weekend on my regular camera.

This is just the beginning, the season just starting and 'oh yes sirree' there will be a lot more of this kind of stuff happening in the weeks and months to come because if there's one thing you can guarantee, when the weather is nice you will always be able to find us on the beach....because life is, or should be 'a beach' that is!

:: I just want to say thank you for all your wonderful messages over the past couple of days - we're doing fine, it was expected....at some point that is, but still a shock nonetheless.

The end of an era the last in the generation with lots of good memories though and much to remember ~ things may be a little sporadic over here at my little blogging space in the next week or so though I will try to keep in touch where I can. N xxx
