Preparation

I'm feeling inspired today, but I just can't seem to get the words out - like my brain and mind have gone numb.

So I'll leave you with the pictures - some of the things I've been preparing for the onslaught of the Christmas celebrations.

Just a little here and a little their, but with the advent(s) - one for the kids and one for the big kid....me! - going up tomorrow it seems a fitting place to share.

Some are from last year, others are new additions and I have the feeling one certain (cyclamen) is not going to last the very first week! I'm useless at plants.

I do like a little preparation!!

Well kind of.

ps. if you were wondering - no lasting snow here. Just wet unsettling blizzard like flakes.

We got snow

Not much though just a smattering.

And it only lasted for about all of an hour yesterday morning and only a fraction of what we've been promised - I guess I should count our blessings considering the state of the rest of the country at the moment plus not so long ago memories of the snowfall we had at the beginning of the year.

But it was enjoyed by all - even Rufus. Who might I add was the first out chasing the flakes like it was a fly feast (oh how we laughed) bounding around the garden with such excitement, containment 'pleeeease' then shortly followed by the girls.

It's always a good thing to change out of pj's for a bit of frolicking about in the snow and on a Sunday morning we are not the best at getting dressed. Served as an incentive though.

Now I know you're all probably thinking I am mad - liking snow - and all that, but I live in the South and on the East coast as well so snow for us is just soooooo rare, amazing and magical - sorry. I won't bang on about it too much, promise.

I can imagine you're all probably sick of the sight of snow, snow and more snow plus the UK is pretty good at coming to a standstill when disaster strikes and making every ones life go on hold.

So here are our pictures - well it wouldn't be fair to ask you to share yours over the weekend and not do the same in return.

The skies are grey, but still no snow just cold, cold and more cold. We're huddled up again though the worst of the illness has almost disappeared - I guess I really should start thinking about Christmas now.

Though like many who have voiced, this is the first time (I think) I can ever remember snow - or frost - in November.

I hope your huddled up as well and not too snowed in or stranded and if you want to leave your snowy links in the comments box again for all to find then please feel free to do so.

Frost

No snow here yet - not even a flake.

But we did wake to a frost this morning which if my memory serves me right is the second one this season.

Anyhow not much waffle for me on this beautiful sunny Saturday morning as we are all very full of cold.

Plus there is a fire to be stoked, drinks to be administered, pillows and eiderdowns need plumping and a child that needs snuggling up to with my name on it.

Thank you so much for all your 'get well wishes' yesterday they certainly cheered me up on a day when I was stuck in the house.

And knowing that you guys are out there in Internet land calling by (with hand covered over mouths) just saying 'Hi' is very cheery for the soul.

{Sleeping Boo}

Talking of popping by and saying 'Hi' I kind of feel like I'm missing out on all this snowy white stuff so if you fancy leaving a link in the comments box to your wonderful wintry pictures for all to see - including me - then please feel free.

Here's wishing a warm and wrapped up weekend.

Unwell

Not even my roll under the eyes filled with caffeine, cold cucumber slices or chilled down chamomile teabags are going to rid me of the dark circles and bags under my eyes today.

Not after the thirty six hours - or so - stint we've just endured with Little Miss Boo and her persistent cough. Though in fairness she is just as tired as we are.

But.......! Fingers crossed she is through the worst of it and it's just me left with the sniffles and sneezes this morning.

I do have to confess though that apart from the lack of sleep, we had (sorry I had) the most lovely day yesterday.

Sat on the sofa in front of the fire snuggled under an eiderdown with the little missus in question cuddled up tight beside me. Watching Disney dvd's sipping hot herbal tea (that was me) and ice lollies for her sore throat just doing nothing, but resting our weary eyes.

Here's wishing you a most wonderful snuggled up and keep warm weekend.

Granny Stripe Scarf

~ Finished ~

All tied in and as predicted - paraded around in at the weekend!!

Well just in the back garden.

Gosh I am sooooo chuffed with this scarf. Not only did I manage to make it from an existing yarn stash which meant no money was parted with - at all, but it is also really really warm and snug.

And of course not forgetting colourful.

There is no way you are going to miss me coming if I'm spotted wearing this little wrap around thing of zingy colour and warmth - plus it's not itchy which is another bonus - for me that is.

Because if there is one thing I cannot bear it's itchy - woolly - stuff.

Though looking back at these picture I can't decide whether I have made it too long 'or' too short depending on which way you look at it and........should I embellish the ends with pom poms or something else - maybe?

Mmmmmmm, still not sure about that one. I guess for the moment I absolutely love, love, love it so it's probably best I don't fiddle around with it too much and just enjoy my scarf for what it is, for what I have made - for right now.

Anyway, I can always give it a fresh look later on in the season - maybe.

Here's wishing you a wonderfully chilly - snowy? -day.

None of the white stuff here......yet!

What bets are you taking for snow?

Fallen

Well it was going to happen sooner or later - the trees emptying their leaves all over the garden.

I guess we are fairly lucky it's only taken until last week that I've actually had to start raking them up. But it's one of those jobs - once you get started you just can't seem to stop and on top of spending the weekend out there clearing them away, on opening the curtains this morning another fresh load has fallen - tis that time of year.....again.

Also I'm starting to notice on a daily basis that the temperature is dropping.

Is it OK to have the heating on low alllll day or is it better to switch it on - just take the edge off - then turn it off again - repeating as and when it's necessary?

I've never figured out that one.

Though I do have to say it is still looking all golden and delicious out there, but with more of a mellow yellow tinge rather then all russets and burnt umber - check me out being all creative with my colours!

But I guess it is just a matter of time before the trees are completely bare so until that time I will keep sweeping and raking until all that has fallen is no longer there.

Well not until the little ones have had their fun first that is.

Did I join in?? You bet I did!!

Here's to Monday and a fresh start of another week - have a good one.
