I am such an awful snacker - I could literally spend all day grazing then come meal times struggle.
And I wonder where the kids get it from?!

Though for me it's not even the good stuff - a biscuit here a sliver of chocolate cake there, I just have no will power at all and with my middle slowly creeping outwards I really must try and control myself.
I dunno all this snacking is just no good for me.....I know!
Though at least with the children I do make sure their snacks are at least healthy ones - if they don't know where the chocolate hob nobs are hidden then they won't be disappointed.

And how can you deny a child a banana or apple - even if you know they will probably not eat most of their dinner - when they mutter those words after 3pm 'mum, I'm hungry!'
Anyway, as my friend's mum use to say 'do as I say, not as I do!' - I soooooo hate that saying........grownups!!!!

Anyway, I'm trying to make my snacking a little more satisfying, filling and healthy.
My favourite - this week - is :: fill a cup/glass/bowl with low fat Greek yogurt, fill the other third with homemade granola (various recipes are available online) then top off with either more homemade goodness - strawberry freezer jam made from some of our strawberries last Summer 'or' maple syrup dribbled all over the top.
And possibly slightly better for me then a chocolate biscuit - or ten!

I hope you're sailing along in your day smoothly?
Me - well I dropped my poached egg destined for a slice of granary toast on the floor earlier!

I'll let you imagine the scene of my newly (yellow) splattered kitchen cupboards and the squelch inside my boots!!

I'm glad you were wearing boots, you don't want to burn your feet.
I snack too much too, and not always on good stuff like lovely yogurt and granola. Today, I am ashamed to say I found myself putting a tube of chilli cheese Pringles in my basket at Sainsbury's. I ate the whole lot. They made lips tingle. Completely against my strict no junk rules, definitely a case of do as I say not as I do.
Oh I am a hopeless snacker - I know I actually need to eat smaller meals, and allow myself healthy snacking, because I actually feel so much healthier and energetic eating like that. This looks like a perfect one. I discovered freezer jam from my Norwegian friend, they pick kilos and kilos of strawberries in the summer and do a massive bulk freeze for the year. I just use jam sugar and no water and it seems to work fine. Yum.
Hi Nina. I don't snack at all when I am really busy - don't even think about it - but the minute the pace slows my thoughts turn to food. My middle is spreading too, but I just don't fancy fruit as much when it is cold..sigh x
Oooops, egg solidifies very quickly doesn't it!!!!!
Love your little snack, it's looks delicious. :)
As for the saying, it all depends on which end of it you are, I never liked having it said to me but I have to admit I quite like saying it! ;)

I am actually finding though, that d snacking is good for you and a lot better than sitting down to an enormous plate of food at meal time. That really is not normal according to doctors. Grazing is good as long as we eat the good stuff. I think your granola idea is good.
You are not alone...walking in the kitchen first thing this morning after feeding the cats, I stepped into a blob of cat food which squished into the bottom of my fuzzy sock! Yuck!
Ooooh I had that snack a lot last summer....trouble was...it was so damn delicious, that a little pot soon became a big bowl each time, naughty nessa!
Gorgeous pics, makes me want want want again!
Hope the egg wasn't too awful to clear up! I smashed a beloved cup full of tea in the kitchen this morning too to top off my day, then saw the price of new washing machines online and gasped! The headache may last well into the night!
My hand jumped to my mouth with both horror and a smirk at the thought of you losing your poached egg. I had poached egg on toast for lunch too it is one of my favourite things, oooh the anticipation and then to lose it on the floor.
I feel for you.

You could have been writing that blog about me!!

fabulous idea!
just what i need :o)
Oh you've made my mouth water. That looks truly delicious Nina. I need to get granola-ing, and then scoffing.
Love how you're playing with the focus on your shots Nina. Snacking is good I thought it was what you're supposed to do each time you visit the kitchen.

Trying hard here to give up snacking - it was making my clothes shrink.
At the moment if I have to have something I'm loving the little clementines/mandarins.
Sounds delicious. I think this weather and this time of year makes us comfort snack. Enjoy. x
I snarled the last piece of brown bread up in the toaster as I was greedy and sliced it too fat! I was too busy stuffing the crust down to notice until it was too late, palette knife and tongs later I am surrounded by burnt crumbs, ho hum!

Aren't eggs just the yuckiest of things to clean up? I too have been very clumsy this week; must be something in the air! Love ths ound of your granola snack, must try some myself. I am very much a grazer and have always been, but like you, I find it hard to snack on the good stuff, preferring the much more delicious chocolate biscuits, or Pringles, yes, you really can't stop once you've popped!
