This is not the most exciting of posts - I know, but this was me last night trying to keep warm.
Blooming shivering and chattering of teeth - it is sooooooo cold (again) at the moment.
Even down here at the ends of the earth on our little southern tip of the country.
So cold it even snowed here yesterday morning!!
That's right - snow.
As we stood in the porch yesterday morning getting ready to set our feet outside the door and mosey on off on the school run a fellow mum shouted at me as she dashed past 'it's snowing' - yeah right was my laughable reaction.

I think it took me all of about ten seconds to stop laughing at those daft words shouted at me and I actually stood still with my mouth wide open in disbelief for another ten seconds whilst it dawned on me - as the girls excitedly jumped up and down shouting 'it's snowing mum, it's snowing!' - don't you just love the vacant look?

Anyhow - it's cold, blooming freezing........absolutely bitter and I am not laughing at all now.
What happened to the warmth and sunshine we had just a week ago?

So there I was sat last night, still trying to keep warm with blankets and the fire, a cup of hot herbal tea and what you can't see is the hot water bottle I had wedge behind my back.

Our house is not designed for the cold.
How on earth did the Edwardians cope?
How on earth did the Edwardians cope?

Well I know they did - I guess you climatise - and I'm sure I will and I don't mean to moan, but bleeding drat and blasts - I do hate being cold!
xXx

Me too! HATE IT, HATE IT, HATE IT! However it IS a good excuse to snuggle under the blankets, even better when accompanied by a loved one, and dream of sunnier days.:)
Can't believe you had snow, crazy stuff! It was ridiculously cold yesterday though, it came from nowhere, and it seems worse because you have a couple of days of mild weather and get lulled into a false sense of security before the temperature drops rapidly and catches you off guard!
Those ripples are looking delightful, I really want to make one myself but have no yarn funds at the moment! Did you use an online pattern at all to learn how to ripple?
Me too! (Hate being cold that is!) I also wonder how the Edwardians, or in our house, the Victorians, coped with the cold. And they always seemed to be wearing quite flimsy dresses too, didn't they? But they did have woolly shawls and flannel petticoats! I am layered up, and have some cosy quilts and am just looking forward to some warmer weather soon. Loved your cosy pictures! Helen x
Em, apparantely we had 9 hours of daylight the other day - if you can call it daylight....! Bright sunshine today - yippee!
Have a great weekend.

it was much better up here in the NW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yes, it's worse when it's been a bit warmer and brighter, then gets really cold again, isn't it? Freezing cold here, but the sun's trying its best :) Hope you get warm soon x
It is very very chilly isn't it but today it has been my most favourite type of Winter day. Hard frozen ground, dry pavements, glorious blue sky and brilliant sunshine. At least it's not raining!
Have a lovely weekend.

Another hotwaterbottle post! I've counted four this week (mine included). Maybe we should set up a club in praise of....hotties;) I even had a book about a hottie called walter, when I was a little un. He travelled across the skies at night (a bit like The Snowman) but I just cannot recall the adventures he had:( Ah well, it was FIVE decades ago!

We had a little snow the other day, but fortunately it's already gone. It's still cold, but yesterday we had the most amazing sunshine! Hope you'll get some sun this weekend too!
Cold here too and dull, yesterday was at least sunny! Don't want snow though, no thank you!!!
Hope you have a warm weekend, Nina! :)

Death rates were probably higher for the Edwardians...
Yeah I suspect the snow will be on its way here soon too...Spring is still a far cry off!
You're house always looks so cosy though...xxx
Well, your little nest looks warm & cosy even if it wasn't. Do looks matter ;)?
I live in Texas, so we don't get much cold weather (too blasted hot here). And I love snow! Maybe we should trade ;)?
Blessings,
GG

Hello Nina, I’ve been cold all day today and I’ve moaned all day about it too! I could do with looking at some of your beach pictures on a warm sunny day. Roll on springtime!
