Seeing Spots

From all my ramblings yesterday, thinking we had got away with just a few spots, is quickly turning into a very rapid spread.

Yesterday we had six - today I'm guessing triple that 'and' they are still multiplying.....almost before my very eyes. I am tired though.

From tiny little pin prick red dots, are within twelve hours turning into nasty little blisters. And I can still see more 'tiny little dots' developing. Spreading from the little boo's back, around to her chest, all in her hair and behind her ears and now I fear her face.

She's been ever so good though - that's my baby boo - not complaining or scratching, just getting on with being ill and getting better.

Thank you for all your kind words and invaluable advice yesterday.

I knew about the bicarb bath, but the Calomine cream, as opposed to the lotion - horrible itchy, scratch inducing smelly stuff - has been a complete saver. Thank you.

She's zonked - I'm zonked, but hey ho.......rough with the smooth.....and a whole lot of caffeine - for me of course.

xXx

Awwwww my littlest has not had he pox yet, and agree that waiting for it is the worst part sometimes....I hope it will come soon, I admit to letting her kiss and cuddle friends when they had it! Eeeek!
The zonked picture looks like a sleepy blissful snuggled nest....
Hope you all get some sleep and rest, poor little lamb!

Poor little soul, but at least she's getting it out of the way. We used rhus tox homeopathic pilules which really helped with the itching. Also, don't forget to cut her nails in case she feels like scratching her face in the night.

Good luck xx

PS - I'm all itchy now!!!

Calamine cream is fantastic, as is a tied sock full of porridge oats in the bath. We also keep a big tube of Aloe Vera gel in the fridge, so its really cold, wondering if that would be soothing, but maybe not on broken skin, I'm not sure, just a thought.

Bless her, it's the pits, but good to get it over with.

My daughter got dropped on her head during a gym practice this morning, there is ALWAYS something it seems (she's ok, just very sore neck, got off lightly considering she landed on her neck).

Ah bless! My son got it first and then my daughter, but then my son got tonsilitus straight after, caused by having spots in his throat!! Yuk! I got chicken pox when I was 13, which seemed to hang around for ages, and just before a school camping trip - although I recoverd just in time!!!

Poor little Boo.

Mine had it when they were about 1 & 3 - big son was ok with his but little son was just covered :( Piriton helped the itching and also helped him sleep at night. Otherwise wearing as little as possible or just soft pj's also worked.

Hope she's better soon xx

Awwwww poor Boo. How rotton. They come thick and fast don't they. My three had it all really bad. Baby Bear had them all around his eyes and in his throat, but Middle Bear was the hardest hit. Seriously, he looked like a boy only a mother could love for a couple of weeks. Think bubbly bog marsh creature from a Dr Who episode! I kid you not! Luckily he soon returned to being a handsome chappie but it was touch and go for a bit, they were huge, angry and all infected. It's such a relief as a parent to get it over and done with.

Hope you manage to get some rest in too!

I'm hoping your little one is feeling better. I went through it with my girls and oatmeal baths helped keep the itching to a minimum. Get well soon. :)

To get thru the pox faster if she doesnt have any open sores put salt in her bath water it dries the spots up faster... and leaves less chance for scarring...but you want to wait for another day or two as if you start to treat her pox now and it goes away there is the likely hood that she will get shingles when she gets older or have another outbreak of the pox again... children only itch when they are recovering from the pox... if you notice when they get a scratch or owie they only itch it when they are starting to heal this is when you use your remedies to keep them from itching so wait till she starts complaining that she itches to help her feel better from the itch... hope this makes sense...

The pox really is the pits! Both of mine were covered, very itchy and very irritiable. Sleep was also really disturbed for a good few nights.

Bicarbonate baths definitely helped as did the cooling calomine. Piriton is supposed to be good too.

Hope little boo is feeling much better very soon.

Dear little baby Boo - Hope she fees better very soon, & that you can get some rest too...

I found my 3 year old had chicken pox on Christmas day 2003 - It was the quietiest Christmas we have ever had... & it would have been easier to get hold of crack coccaine, than the bottle of Calomine lotion I so dearly wanted to ease his itching....
