Broken Stones

If you are familiar with Paul Weller then you will understand the title of my post - it is one of my all time favourite songs and signifies a time in my life that I will never, ever forget.

Anyhoo, if you are not then that's fine.

Bank holiday Monday saw us heading out to Walmer - it seems the further around the coastline you get the more pebbly the beaches become.

I'm not very good with pebbles on the beach. They remind me of the Summer holidays when we would head down to Hayling Island or Southsea for the day.

Not even the hardest of feet (or person) would be able to walk around without wincing or pulling 'the most' peculiar of faces.

Quite funny to watch - granted, but not so funny when you are trying to look uber cool in your brand new Speedo swimming costume!

The kids enjoyed the change of scene though - not a single grain of sand followed us home.

And even though the eldest Boo had his nose stuck in a book most of the time he soon change his mind when we declared an all out pebble skimming war.

Who could resist?

Have a wonderful day.

~ Broken Stones - by Paul Weller ~

Like pebbles on a beach
Kicked around, displaced by feet
Like broken stones - all trying to get home.
Like a loser's reach
Too slow & short to hit the peaks
So lost & alone - trying to get home.

As another piece shatters
Another little bit gets lost
And what else really matters - at such a cost?

Like a loser’s reach -
Too slow & short to hit the peaks
So lost & alone - trying to get home.

Trying to get home -
Like broken stones - all trying to get home.

xXx

Oh Paul Weller - be still my beating heart! Great song.

Another day at the beach, you jammy so and sos. I'm so envious and desperate to see the sea again. My rabble went up to St Ann's beach at Lytham last week on a beautiful day WHEN I WAS AT WORK! I am still seething as you can tell. Not long until we're down in Dorset though but I guess it will be raining by then!

Have a lovely BH weekend,
Stephx
P.s. My eldest is addicted to the Dragon books too, great books.

Seen Paul Weller live and it was excellent - walking on pebbles is very painful but it's handy not taking all that sand home. Not read your blog for a while so just going to have a catch up.

I can't remember the last time I listened to Paul Weller, I enjoyed that, THANK YOU.
I do love the sand, I just hate taking it home with me.

Lovely pictures Nina!

I want to borrow that child who reads a book on a beach.

Blimey don't think I've heard that song in ages.

Round here we've a mix of beaches - the nearest one is very pebbley (Aldeburgh) but if we go up the coast to Southwold we can find sand.

Ahhhhhhhhh supadupa song, ta twinks. Hahahaha only saving grace about a pebbly beach is not taking a trunk load of sand back home with ya's. Looks like a grand time was had by all. Loves Ionwen XXX

I absolutely love Paul Weller! 'You do something to me' is 'our' song and was the first dance at our wedding. The Jam and The Style Council - fantastic too.

My youngest is reading the How to Train your Dragon series of books at the moment too. She absolutely loves them, can't get enough. I can see why he had his head stuck in the book most of the time because they are addictive reading. x
