Not an orchard by any stretch of the imagination, but I did plant them all - one pear and three apples.
This is an early variety but as for the name, well nice and sweet with a super shiny red coat will do me just fine.
I've spent the last half hour precariously balanced on top of an old and and very, very wobbly ladder tentatively testing, twisting and gently tugging to see if any were ready to fall into my hands.
Rather that then leave them for windfall.
These are far too nice to risk letting the woodlice nibble away on or gather up off the garden floor all battered and bruised with only half an apple left to eat once all the bad bits have been chopped off.

Lovely! Could it be Katy that early apple? Although our little tree produced those and I've eaten them all now so maybe not unless yours was a bit later.
It is so satisfying getting apples from your own trees - they might be Gala - I am eating those at the moment. Delicious!

They look, and I'm sure taste, superb. How wonderful to grow your own fruit.
I wonder why it is that apples fresh from the tree are so much more tempting to me than shop bought ones?
Those look superb.
Oh, these look delicious! Just like apples should be. C.x
They look very inviting! It's no fun having bruised apples picked up off the floor, so well done you for getting up on the ladder.........looks like the family appreciated it!

They look truly scrummy! I need to plant more as our kiddies go through apples like horses - we have to buy about 3 bags a week :-o
Such beautiful images Nina. I had to add one of them to my pinboard! Another sign of wonderful autumn isn't it? x
lovely images! apples are everywhere in my local park and we picked up lots of conkers on the ground!- and its still August --just!
The golden leaves laying in the park remind me of the Autumn thats here already...but i like autumn its a cozy, nesty time and after seeing your post i might make an apple pie ;0)x

Scrummy looking - you can't beat English apples.

Oh I do dream of fruit trees and bushes in my garden. But a bit of a dream in my little patch at the mo. But I do dream of bigger greener spaces in my future.
Well a girl has to every now and then have a little dream.
Those apples look lovely and I bet they taste even better! Good luck with the garden re-vamp. I always think gardens are the hardest things to start. Even when they are more established or you are starting from scratch.
Oooh now I am thinking about apple crumbles.........

How great to be able to pick your own apples, I just said to mum yesterday that I would love to have apple trees in the garden.
Oh an ode to ye olde apple tree xox I love fruit trees very much in deed and although I only have a court yard I have an apple tree in a large pot that I rescued from being chucked out of B&Q and it bore 3 sweet little apples last year, I was over the moon to say the least. Love your photography xox
Just as an apple should be, straight off the tree and it looks delicious. I do miss fresh, crisp, sweet juicy apples, ours go into 'cool storage' so they can be at least a year old before we buy them and the taste is so bland they are terrible. I remember when I was young mum would buy a wooden crate of Jonathan apples and they were eaten in no time they were so tasty.

What gorgeous pictures :) You've got to love the simplicity and versatility of the apple :D
