I've been desperate to have a little chill out area in the garden for quite some time now. I guess the end of Summer isn't really the best time to start, but you never know in good old blighty - we still could have that Indian Summer yet plus that's incentive and inspiration for you.
You just never know when it's going to go ping.
Mine has kind of gone more like 'bam' rather then ping, but at least the vision is there now.
It's been hard work in as much of a physical way as it has on the old heart strings - pulling apart an established garden, but I think (hope) that this much needed chop back will make the garden thrive even more and be more of a delight to enjoy.

Fingers crossed (x)

Lots of dead wood for a bonfire too.
Right, best get back to doing some more ripping out.

I like the sound of an Indian summer. I take it the rain has stopped where you are?
Good luck and I hope you manage to get it all done x
I'd say now was a good time to start as with the summer stuff dying back a bit you can see what you are doing! Then if we do get a nice autumn you will be able to enjoy it and if not it will be there waiting for the first signs of spring.
Bon courage!
Very exciting! Enjoy your new chill out area, fingers crossed for a lovely September. x
I'm in a similar mood.
Now it's time for some pruning (I did some yesterday) and for planting some winter vegetables in the next days.
it can be good to get stuck into the garden and tidy up before the winter sets in..good luck!

I know just the feeling - we had to rip out a tree (sacrilege, I know) to build our extension. Hope it's worth it. Good luck with your culling. Looking forward to the results. C.x
Better to start when you can especially at the end of a season, you'll reap the benefit all the sooner next year.
I look forward to seeing what you've been working away on in the garden!
I too hope we have an Indian summer!

Always tough to do, I've been having to sort out parts of the garden too here and everything has thrived having a good cut back and extra light into the garden. Good luck! Here's hoping for an Indian Summer! Catherine xx
This sounds exciting & hard work.... & on a totally superficial level - love the wellies!
