Filling the space

The kids are out of school today - like I'm sure it is for many of you across the country.

So to fill the space we started off with the more mundane of stuff like ::

We've been shopping and stocked up on all manner of stuff - little helpers helping to unpack and put everything away....mostly in the wrong places.

I'll sort things as I come across them, I'm sure.

The bigger ones emptied the dishwasher for me - again everything put back in the wrong places......oh well.

I've washed - they've tided and fluffed - and whilst the older two had their heads buried in the comics we bought earlier the smallest one and I went searching in the back garden for 'stuff' to use in her painting project.

Sufficed to say - paint and glitter has gone everywhere - but that's half the fun.....right?

The advent calender has gone up already in anticipation for tomorrow. Lunch has been demolished, spare chocs scoffed and the eldest man dispatched at a friends.

And for this afternoon.......?

Cakes are on the agenda then a DVD and popcorn for afters where I'm hoping to collapse before I start the dinner and then familiar evening routine of bath, books, cuddles and bed.

Phew! I'm exhausted already.

What are you filling your space with today?

xXx

Mine have gone to work for their Dad - at almost 16 & 14 they were very happy to earn a days wages plus lunch!! They even left the house earlier than normal!!

I've pottered about as normal, blogged, taken more photos, knitted and just sat reading magazines!

Yeap for me too, but annoyingly only 2 out of 3 were off, so no lazy morning!

Whilst they kept themselves amused I did the mundane with a general tidy, washing and yukky ironing. Oh, and I spent a WHOLE HOUR pairing socks in a sock pile. Seriously mind numbing! The last two times I made the kids do it, sock fights broke out and I kept finding socks for days afterwards. I did make eldest un-stack the dishwasher and like yours, it went in every place it shouldn't! I swear they do it on purpose just so they are not asked again!

You did well with the painting. It always fills me with horror as the blinkin' stuff always gets everywhere here and I find it on door frames, trodden into mats and on cushions etc. Oh well, I guess if they have fun! he he!

Have a great evening and hope you aren't too pooped by 7!

There are pluses to having not a one still young enough for school. Youngest, who is taking a mid degree gap year (euphemism for I chose the wrong degree and haven't a clue what to do next) has a day off work and just made me a nice cup of coffee and brought me a Green and Blacks choccy bar. Do I miss the finger painting and glitter days, not right now I don't!

Spent most of my strike day catching up on marking. Definitely went wrong somewhere. Did get the advent calendar sorted though. LOVED the glittery pictures.

Blimey i know how you feel. Sounds a lovely day though, being together. I did really enjoy mooching about with my two today but with a cold lurking in the background I'm whacked too.

Lots of glitter and Christmas card making first thing (for once I just relaxed and though "it'll all go up the hoover" but the kitchen floor is now rather spangly!), followed by Lego and lunch, then a the long promised treat of finally seeing "Elf" which gripped them for about 20 minutes then some good old fashined tickling.

Luckily as I was abotu to pass out daddy came in with two teeny real Christmas trees (he'd been interviewing a chap who runs a Christmas tree farm) so much lugging out of decorations lights etc then onto cooking the dinner.

Shattered but cosy fun.
Take care

Sound like you had a very busy but wonderful day.
Ours started with a visit to the vets, both cats needed annual vaccinations. Little Amy, as gentle as ever, Rosie - well she growled like a dog, she would have taken the vet's arm off if she could and then she told me off all the way home!
This afternoon I've been sorting and wrapping some Christmas presents. No decorations up yet though.

That all looks lovely and homely Nina but I do hope none of that glitter and glue went on the wood burner .. perish the very thought!
Nothing like that here today though, our kids were in school !!

You really did have a busy day hope you had a good nights sleep and are all ready to go again so far my day included our extremely naughty pig Pixie escaping again and eating a load of tulips bulbs from a flower bed, I am a veggie but if this lark continues she will be sausages by Christmas!

Glitter gets everywhere my other half goes to work in suit but I do not tell him when the glitter is on his face, all sparkly!

Take care

sounds like you had a perfectly lovely day. My little girl was at school, and I loved the school run, there was virtually no traffic (the local state schools were all closed!) So I had a quiet day at home, pottered and made a list, I must do my overseas Christmas cards! Jude x
