Seeing Spots

From all my ramblings yesterday, thinking we had got away with just a few spots, is quickly turning into a very rapid spread.

Yesterday we had six - today I'm guessing triple that 'and' they are still multiplying.....almost before my very eyes. I am tired though.

From tiny little pin prick red dots, are within twelve hours turning into nasty little blisters. And I can still see more 'tiny little dots' developing. Spreading from the little boo's back, around to her chest, all in her hair and behind her ears and now I fear her face.

She's been ever so good though - that's my baby boo - not complaining or scratching, just getting on with being ill and getting better.

Thank you for all your kind words and invaluable advice yesterday.

I knew about the bicarb bath, but the Calomine cream, as opposed to the lotion - horrible itchy, scratch inducing smelly stuff - has been a complete saver. Thank you.

She's zonked - I'm zonked, but hey ho.......rough with the smooth.....and a whole lot of caffeine - for me of course.

Poxy Chicken

Since Sunday we've had a very up and down unwell little girl.

One minute she was burning up and shivering all at the very same time. Complaining that her throat hurt and ear ached. Unsettled and crying continuously - nothing would soothe her. Well until the recommended dose of paracetamol kicked in.

The next she would be dancing around, laughing like a trooper and generally being back to her normal cheeky little monkey self.

And as for sleeping - I wish!

Don't they just worry the hell out of you sometimes?!

Then late last night I found the tiniest blistered spot on her head. I discounted it because of the fact it was so small and so clear you could barely see it. She slept like a log last night....and so did I! Hurray - all is well.

Fast forward to this morning. The blistered spot was gone and my little boo was all jolly again - no ear ache, no sore throat and most definitely no temperature. What ever it was had worked it's way out of her body. Phew.

Until..........I got her dressed.

Tummy - fine. Face - fine. Arms and legs - fine. Back of the ears - fine.

Let's just quickly take a look at your back - what's that? And that? And that, that, that and that!

Six spots all blistered and a little bit (by a lot) bigger then the one I found on her head which as I looked closer realised she had scratched and was now not so little and not so clear, but a red and angry knocked blistered spot.

We have the Pox. Chicken Pox that is.

Well, the littlest Boo has Chicken Pox.

So that's what all the ear, throat, restless sleep and temperature was all about. It all makes sense now.

And do you know what? I am so relieved. Not because she has come through the worst of it and it's just the spots now - though the good nights sleep was most welcome last night and we do have to keep her incubated (so to speak) until the last spot has popped! No I'm relieved because I feel like I have been waiting such a long time for her to get it.

All her other little buddies have had it - ages ago. I was kind of feeling a little left out.

What ever happened to having a Chicken Pox party?

Anyhow, today we've had a play day....so far. I'm hoping she'll settle with a DVD later and have a snooze. There's no harm in hoping is there?

Well best get back to it - another puzzle to make, another sticker to be stuck. Yay for Chicken Pox.

Have a lovely day yourself - Chicken Pox.........anyone?

This 'n' That

Not much on the agenda today - just a bit of "this 'n' that" really.....and clearing up from yesterday!

Thank you for all your wonderful birthday messages - the eldest boo gave a grunt in return.

That's a good thing by the way - a show of emotion instead of a 'W' for what ever!

I think I'm going to print them all off and stick them in a scrapbook along with previous years I've posted about so that when he does return from the dark side then it will be a lovely thing to have....maybe.

You can never tell with these pre teens!

Anyhoo, with all my little ones off on their jollies today - mum code for school - the 'black cat' and I have been spending a little leisurely time in the garden pottering around the newly put up greenhouse - or big boys meccano as I like to fondly call it - and generally enjoying the sunshine and soaking up the rays.

That and wrapping Mr Boo's presents for the up and coming weekend.

Yep it's that time of year again where for one week only we have a mass of birthdays.

All good fun though - well apart from becoming another year older that is. That's not much to laugh about at all.

Well best go - more wrapping to do and the sun is still shining so more rays to lavish upon myself.

Ahhhhhhh - tis a hard life.....sometimes!

Have a beautiful day.

Eleven

The eldest Boo is eleven today - what more can I say?

He went to school in a huff this morning - badge proudly pinned to his jumper.

How dare there be school on his birthday?!

Do they not know?

With a twinkle in his eye though - for it is his birthday......don't you know!

I made him a donut cake - lashed liberally with pure melted chocolate so it goes 'crack' when sliced into.

And tonight we dine on his most favourite of meals - ham, egg and chips......that's my boy.

To our bold and handsome yet shy and unassuming - when it suits - beautiful, beautiful fast growing up (please slow down) pre teen boy.

My 'Just William!'

~ Happy, happy birthday young man ~

You're still not getting a Play Station though!

I still have 'that' twinkle in my minds eye.

Cheeky little wotsit!

Seaside Reflections

We've just come back from a long walk down to the seafront - Mr Boo and I.

'Oh' how glorious it is today.

Cappuccino and a Kentish huffkin later - we are two very happy and satisfied little folk.

It doesn't take much really!!!

My face is tingling with the effect of the sun, my hair tousled from the sea breeze. I can taste the sea on my lips and my nostrils tingle from the smell of fresh brine.

Yes today is a 'very' good day.

I hope the sun is shining with you?!

Polaroid

For as long as I can remember I have always always wanted a Polaroid camera.

But in the new era of digital 'why?'

It's clunky, the pictures are streaky and grainy and as for the film well, notoriously expensive - not to mention very very hard to come by since Polaroid have stopped making it.

But there are some new kids on the block and it seems I am not the only one still in love with this picture photo development.

So what if the film is difficult (and expensive) to find - it's not impossible.

I paid £17 for a pack of eight and could only find it in silver - the camera was a fraction of the price. As one would say :: probably vintage, maybe archaic and even possibly retro! The old 600 range that is.

It's almost a bit like one of those old fashioned pictures you have taken as a family dressed up in the wild west or something looking at the quality of these pictures.

Still nonetheless I love Polaroid pictures. Always have done, always will do.

But even I have to agree this is more of a 'big girlie toy' and one that I will not be indulging in for all my photographic adventures. Fun though, nostalgic 'oh yes' and it will most definitely not be shoved to the back of a cupboard.

So let me introduce you to my other 'new' toy - a Polaroid Zink. A photographic printer that requires no ink. In girlie pink 'yes, I know' but at the time it was cheaper then the black version.

OK so the printed pictures are not exactly ginormous. More the size of a business card I'd say.

But they do have a peelable back so you can stick them anywhere you like.

So far they've been stuck on and slipped into birthday cards. Given to friends (the kids) to remember a special moment within a play date. An angel and a fairy spring to mind only recently.

It was really nice to capture that moment and then print it off - as many times as you like - to give as a little departing gift.

Again not cheap, but a lot cheaper then old Polaroid film and far more accessible and easy to find.

Polaroid desire - well and truly fixed......for now!

Have a super day.
