With the weather being so delicious this week - you can almost taste Spring in the air - I've been spending most of my time down at the allotment ferociously digging in preparation of the soil warming up.
It's not attractive work to be honest - more like back breaking - and I've had to slap bright red varnish on my nails to cover up the pitiful state they are in (and that's even wearing gardening gloves) but it's going to be well worth it.......I can feel it.
This weekend the greenhouse will get a - fully - good old cleaning and clearing out (by my lovely hubby) whilst I will sit gleefully at the potting bench (or on the kitchen floor if the weather is pants.....move aside cakes and cookies) carefully planting seeds waiting for their admittance into the house of glass - well plastic, but it's still referred to as the same thing.
I hope you too have a wonderful weekend and the weather is kind to you.

ps. you may of noticed I've added a 'followers' link to my blog.
Over the past four'ish' years of blogging I've never added it or really felt the need to do so, but with all the changes going on with blogger recently and reading how frustrating it can be trying to locate the simplest of things - especially for us old timers that are used to the old ways - I thought it may help.
So hello if you are new and have found me and a big wave to all you old timers out there......like me.
.......have a fabulous weekend.

Wishing you a wonderful and earthy weekend Nina. Beautiful photography of your digging and planting. We used to have an allotment but I just couldn't keep up with it, but I have hopes and dreams of having another one someday soon xox
i feel a bit of an old timer...Sophia was still in my tummy when i started blogging- ive been 3 different blogs since then ;0)...i was walking a long the big park near my city and a joining it is a huge allotment...i could see a hive of activity and digging...think the warmish skies have got everyone thinking gardening ;0)...my court yard is looking quite sorry for its self- must give it some love this weekend xx
Gorgeous pictures Nina, as always. Guess what, Mr K. has the day off today and we are off in a moment to pick up the key to our new allotment. I can't wait to get on to 'our' soil :D x
Although the spring fever weather has somewhat missed us in our little part of the s/w, I have indeed started to get a little gardening groove on. Some little seeds have been planted up and live on the kitchen window sill for now until warmer weather.
I keep looking at my garden and listing all the things that need to be done!
Hope you have a lovely weekend getting down and dirty in the mud, although not beautiful in looks it more than makes up in feeling.

I am keeping my fingers crossed it satys warm over the weekend so that I can go give our very small garden some TLC.
great photo's as always.
Great photos Nina! It has felt springlike recently - long may it last!

I envy your green fingers Nina. If I had an allotment, it would be a sorry state of affairs, no matter how hard I tried. Soil and plants just HATE me. Mr H won't let me touch any of his efforts, and they stay alive because of this. Sigh.......maybe one day I might just get rid of this garden death touch I seem to have!
Have a lovely weekend, and hope the weather stays nice for you to indulge in some more allotment loving!

Hi Nina, we haven't had much sunshine here, but it has been milder this week, your allotment looks great all ready for planting...I love that feeling, so satisfying, I have 3 beds dug, 3 to go! I love the photo of your shed door! x

How nice to be in the garden. Have a nice weekend.
The allotment is looking fabulous Nina, all those plans will soon be coming to fruition :o)
Happy seed planting!

Well that was a surprise. Gone are the peonies and the girl by the sea! All change, and very nice it is too.
You are working hard, I would love to think I could put in that much effort but I would miss my sewing machine and I'm actually too lazy. You, on the other hand, will be eating delicious home grown fare in the next few months and I ... won't!!
Have a lovely weekend, from another old timer (thanks for that btw) !!

Allotments are hard work but its worth the effort when you can harvest your own veggies.
