............weekend!
It started off well with a spot of sunshine streaming through the windows first thing on Saturday morning. The cat finding the best place in the house to optimise and stretch out, enjoying the warmth.
But what was promising soon turned into wet, wild and windy with 'flipping heck' bitter thrown in for good measure. Though no snow here, not this time round.
So instead of painting fences, attending to seedlings, clearing out a shed.........!
Soon became huddling up in front of the fire - the very same spot the kitty cat had acquired earlier that day to - making (and eating) comfort food with a twist.
Flapjacks were transformed into caramelitas, brownies into a gooey pudding and soda bread made up into fresh leek, sage (both from the allotment) and cheddar cheese bread from a cookbook my lovely hubby had bought me for Christmas.
And talking of my lovely hubby, we celebrated another anniversary - seventeen years 'phew' who'd of known - and a foggy day trip out over to Margate to see the newest exhibition at the Turner Centre with hot chocolate and chit chat for afters.........no kiddies!
Today is no change - in the weather that is - and we are battening down the hatches and huddling up in the warmth, listening to the wind howling and tucking into comfort food leftovers of the weekend just passed.
I hope you had a lovely weekend too?

ps...and this is why we do not venture down to the beach at this time of the year. Tis not for the faint hearted, but the adventurers in us - it is pretty bleak and miserable!...

Very similar weekend to ours, all snuggled up with jamas on except we did have snow... didn't lie though = sad face! Belated anniversary too x
We had the cold and winds without the precipitation here. And there was no baking because I'm trying to lose weight ... says the woman who scoffed two Eccles cakes yesterday afternoon! I do like the sound of that soda bread though, I may well have to try that.
A belated Happy Anniversary, and may you enjoy very many more of them together x
Sounds the only thing to do in this wet windy weather, eat good food and snuggle. Thing is someone has to make that good food. Mind you the happy sighs when they're enjoying it are thanks aren't they.
Apologies for hardly commenting these days. I just about manage to blog a couple of times and then have a quick whizz around. Loved your allotment posts Nina - all looking really good.
Happy anniversary wishes to you.

This sounds like such a lovely weekend, mines was spent swimming and bushwalking, and lazing in bed!!
Both weekends perfect in different ways- lovely!
I am watching the raindrops run down the window pane now and listening to the wind in the trees outside. Brrrhh. We stayed in all weekend by the fire, minus the baking though. Dev x Ha Ha one of the words to prove that I am not a robot is rainglop!
Sending belated happy anniversary wishes to you both Nina and wishing you many more years of happiness:o)
Yesterday was bloomin' awful here too, but today is sunny even though it's still a cold wind.
(I'll attempt to post this if I can manage to translate the word verification...)
Sounds like everyone did the same thing this weekend! I was out gardening in sunglasses and no coat on Saturday - yesterday we had snow..bizarre!

Happy Anniversary! The weather here yesterday was pretty miserable too - sleet and snow but none of it laid as it was too warm and wet!

I am a new reader of your blog and just wanted to say hi! Your photos are gorgeous and I can't wait to have a look at some of your older posts.
Congratulations to you both and here's to many more happy years.
We had a thoroughly miserable weekend with added snow. I was cold all the time.
Wonderful pictures, Nina. Looks like a lovely weekend despite the weather turning back to winter. It was the same here but hopefully next weekend we'll be back out in the garden again!
Have a great week.

We stayed in this weekend and close to the fire.
Sounds like a cold weekend, and you made the best of it.
It was wild and yukky. I too had great plans but then ended up not leaving the house. I'm a little bit bored of being stuck in too but I'm completely a wuss and hate walking in brisk weather.
Congratulations to you and your hubby!

Happy Anniversary! Love the new header, and of course the pics. We've had a very wet and windy winter here in Maryland, as well. Very little snow and often unseasonably warm, so I've given up on it, and am now dreaming of spring. So many of our spring flowers have made an early start.
Definitely the best plan of action of a weekend like this last one. I didn't venture out of the house once - well only to feed the hens!
Woody was down your way on Saturday, his best mate lives nr Gllingham and they spent the day in Broadstairs. He's been raving about the lovely sea front ever since.
Freezing wind here and frosts again. Time to snuggle in I think.
Happy Anniversay!
