We have that in-between Christmas and the new year feeling.
I'm never too sure whether to embrace or indulge it, but one thing I do know is that I get fidgety.
Wanting to have a massive purge and throw everything out - start afresh - but feeling guilty that I should really just be relaxing and enjoy the whole lovely mess of it. January is for...spring'ish' cleaning.
So we pull on our wellies, wrap up warm and walk. Not all are in agreement with this, but it's the only solution I can come up with...at the moment.
Teenage boredom - not a phase I'm relishing.

Looks like a nice walk to me!
ReplyDeleteI'm feeling like I would skip the whole new years things (if I could) and come out afterwards.
Start fresh and relax. ;-)
I agree with you about the " Lull" feeling have it here, thanks for sharing the pics :-)

Know exactly what you mean... I am itching to tear down the decorations and chop up the tree and pack it all back in the loft. But we have a New Year's Eve situation going on here and I think I need to retain the glitz for a bit of atmosphere. Roll on Jan 1st...!!

I totally understand! I feel like a right misery but even the decs start to get on my nerves and I want to clean and tidy out cupboards! Went for a walk here too to try and stop me from putting things away! Happy new year to you xxx
ReplyDeleteA walk was on the cards for us until a smattering of spots was discovered and we found we had a chicken pox'd person!
ReplyDeleteAs to the teenage boredom, ours started early about 18 months ago when he was 11! Some days I feel like I wish I had a fast forward button to help deal with it all!

I have to admit that these in-between days are some of the best days of the year for me - no pressures or deadlines, all the family on holiday, lots of me time after rushing round like a mad thing for the remainder of the year - sheer bliss!
ReplyDeleteHelenxx
walks are always good, normally need to bribe my two even though they wanted a dog they never seem to want to walk her, somehow our christmas and new year have all merged into one.............. today I was planning when i could take the tree down....must be nearly over!! xx
ReplyDeleteSssh I won't tell anyone if you don't ... I'm packing Christmas away tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteTeenage boredom ... Never!
Have a great new year,
Love Claire xxx
Thanks for sharing the photos. We enjoy a nice walk as well, especially if it includes a cafe at the end.
ReplyDeleteAlways nice to get outside for a while at this time of year as well. Its not oftern you get the chance.
Totally get that lull feeling - I start looking around and getting the urge to move things...my family always start looking a bit nervous. I have plans for next week!
ReplyDeleteDon't worry about teenage boredom, they're asleep for most of it! Xxx
A good walk makes everyone feel better - even teenagers xo
ReplyDeleteWe have had so much rain!! This has been one very wet one!
ReplyDeleteYes, me too....feeling the need to clear out and renew! :) x
Teenage boredom! Ha that struck a chord with me, can I say pre-teen boredom with Alice at 12? There seems to be nothing to fill this chasm of having 101 things they could do with the inertia to actually DO ! Hmmm I guess we just have to ride with it :o) xox Penelope
ReplyDeletelove the wellie shot, i know what you mean about the feeling. xx
ReplyDeleteI actually welcome the boredom, more please! :) Hope you have a wonderful New Year's.
ReplyDeletexox Lilly
gah, i have that feeling to, but nonetheless i love your photos and this post :) happy new year!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely walk. Teenage boredom is a real test of a parent's patience. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteThere has been no lull here to speak of..I'm in a frenzy trying to cull and purge as I speak.
ReplyDeleteOh to be able to enjoy a walk outdoors...it's just far too hot here at the moment to even think about it.
Happy New Year Nina.

Hi Nina, have enjoyed all your posts and photo's through out this past year and look forward to many more. Have a wonderful New Year's and 2013.
ReplyDeletexx Sandi
Hard isn't it? There's not even anything decent on the tele so you have an excuse to stay in and indulge! It seems that walking is a good one even if the weather's not the best. Anyway....don't know about you but....I almost feel self righteous when I've done the walk....in the rain, mud, whatever....and come back in! Best wishes to you and yours for 2013. Joan
ReplyDeleteSame here Nina ... we've been walking to break the monotony a little ... it's lovely to get some fresh air ... have a wonderful New Year ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteyes it is a lull isn't it. It's a bit like being in no mans land. Anyway, at least you can get them to come for a walk even if they don't want to!! have a good new year! Heather x
ReplyDeleteMuddy walks are a great solution to the sluggish post-Christmas days. I'm sharing your urge to purge - yesterday I cleared out the cupboard under the bathroom sink of all the old half empty shampoo and suncream lotion bottles that seem to have accumulated there - I'm feeling all virtuous now and looking forward to a lovely long wood walk tomorrow when the weather looks better. Have a very happy new year Nina x
ReplyDeleteHi Nina
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting and for your kind comment :-)
Yes, this is a very long and fidgety, dull, lulling sort of week isn't it? Today I caved in and started clearing out everyone's clothes. I'm pleased to have filled some bin bags for the charity shop!
I would love a good walk, but sadly we have one of the kiddies poorly again - oh yes !!??
Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year with lots of wonderful times, health and peace,
Josie x
PS: I love the red coat and yellow wellies combination !
A Happy New year to you and your family, that we have been doing over here must be the new year a fresh start.
ReplyDeleteThis is so lovely. Mud! I love it! We were doused with a bit of snow, but oh, how I can relate to the stretch between.....I am savoring it and letting so many new ideas flood my heart, if only for a moment. Sending lots of love and peace this 2013! XO
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - this lull can be tricky to manage, especially when it rains and small ones (or teens) are bored. But I do love not having to set the alarm clock!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you Nina.

beautiful photos, beautiful words. beatiful blog. :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!!
Oh, I'm enjoying the lull this year... real life will infringe all too soon, in my opinion!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great walk - thank goodness for wellies!
Happy New Year to you,
Jo x
I know the feeling. I spent the day after Christmas cleaning out cupboards! x
ReplyDeleteHa ha we all have one of those in our homes at the moment, We went to the coast for a tramp about and lunch by the harbour. Rosey kept asking how long we'd be and when we'd get back. Turns out some good telly on!
ReplyDeleteI took the cards down today as fed up looking at them, but tree staying until Sunday as I love the twinklyness of it too much.
Happy New Year to you Nina and here's to a good old clean up once it's all boxed up again.
Lisa X
Hi there!
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for some time and I've given you a little award over on my blog here: http://bunniesandstripes.blogspot.fr/2013/01/liebster-award.html
Hope you like the idea and keep it going :)
xx Caro
Just boxing up the Christmas decorations and got that 'what now' feeling. Glad it's not just me! Winter walks - always a good pick-me-up.
ReplyDeleteHappy New year, how is your January shaping up? My girls are officially rested, recovered and relaxed, that they are now bored and want to go back to school, admittedly I am counting the days down, as I am shattered! Dxxx
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to one of my favorite people. I hope the new year is treating you well so far. I am back to blogging and have a giveaway going on and thought you might like. It is raining in my neck of the woods so I hope yours is sunny.
ReplyDeleteVery amused by the teenage boredom!! Thank you for your support and friendship last year. Here's to a fantasticly springish January and a great 2013:~))
ReplyDeleteLovely photos and love those yellow wellingtons :).
ReplyDeleteI would love nothing more than going for a nice long walk at the moment, but the temperatures where I live are ranging from high 30s to early 40s! Far too hot!
Don't boys generally like mud ... perhaps you could tell him it's good practice for staying on his feet on the rugby pitch!
ReplyDeleteThey do come out on the other side of adolescence as rather lovely young men ... just hang on tight while the bumpy ride lasts!
